This is my last day at the coalface, before Christmas, and indeed this year, so now seems like the perfect time to wish everybody, and I do mean everybody, a very, very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

Have a great time and take care everyone.

I hate to tell you this guys but we are not getting the best from our Mods on the racing forum- I have just been having a mooch around on the football boards and the Hull Mod is fantastic. In one reply he told the poster he would not piss on him if he was on fire, also uses sarcasm beautifully with the words in reply to one post of ' in English please' and is very probing with his questions in ' Did you not go to School' , come on Ron , up your game <ok>

And the same to you Ron-and everyone else!

What's with all the call for intervention -haven't noticed anyone out of order?

Seems to resolve itself on this section.,most folk seem to be adult enough to own up to misunderstandings ...

Totally agree Rudey, no bother on here. Merry Xmas one and all and big thanks to captain Ron and his first mate Oddy for keeping us on an even keel throughout the year.
Now then this King George malarkey. Having previously said it's a no bet but support for the 'local' horse Al Ferof would be my approach I've changed my mind. I've not been on the brandy...yet but reckon Nicholl's Wonderful Charm at 40s is overpriced and had an ew poke. He'll get his ground and I feel a step up to 3 miles might just bring out the best in him. Both his run in the JLT and at Newton Abbott suggest to me this would be the case. On both occasions he got outpaced but then stayed on. I like the way he's very economical with his jumping too. Not flashy but just gets to the other side with the minimum of fuss. Good luck all, really looking forward to the Boxing Day action.

Likely goodish ground means you've simply got to take on jolly Silvi Conti in the King George. Really unsure what with though. Menorah or possibly Fever would be my two dependent on the prices. Not a hope would Silvi have won a Supreme with MTOY or Jezki behind him, not a prayer! So the class is there with the Fever but it depends whether he settles or not really. He could pull himself out of it if he doesn't. Not one you'd go mad on really.

Pity for all his bravado NTD dropped his bollocks regards the Christmas Hurdle. Make no mistake if Faugheen hadn't a been here, TNO would be. 100%. Anybody fancying Irving or Sign of Victory for the Champion I'd wait to back them post-race :) I'll tell you something it'll be a right effort should Faugheen hammer them round this speed track as we all know how well he stays. After this maybe NTD will skip Cheltenham and head back for his Doombar defence ;)

Out of all the St Stephens day racing the one I'm most looking forward to most is VAUTOUR, obviously not as a betting proposition but to see if were any further clear as to what Festival race he wins...

Good luck and Merry Christmas :)

Decent race in Limerick too, Gilgamboa runs in it against a mare of Willies getting the allowances. Will be a pretty decent effort from him should he put her away and he could well shorten up for the JLT where he's most likely aimed. He's a decent horse, was running a big race in the Supremes until a bad blunder finished his chances. For my money he'd a beaten Josses Hill for second in that.

Cheers Ste :) Will most likely pop in for the big stuff and no shortage of that after tomorrow... too much in fact! Two or three cards is the maximum I'd ever look at!

<laugh> good to know Irving who struggled to beat Aurore Destruval last time and Sign Of A Victory who beat a plodder half a length off 139 are now considered a right effort to beat for a Champion Hurdle favourite.

Neither are within a stone of My Tents class and if Faugheen doesnt beat them easily there will be a new favourite for the big one, and a short price at that.

good to have you back all the same beefy

Your like my own stalker Boris, but I am flattered all the same :)

Serious question and not acting the ass, do you seriously think if Faugheen hadn't been in this race that Nige would have TNO standing in his box on Friday with a Grade One like that at his mercy?! Sure he won easy lto and done both last year?!! Be serious now please :)

*Edit: In fairness old boy, I did say if Faugheen 'hammered' those plodders as you called them it'd be a fair effort. Especially round a track which should strongly favor them over the beast ;)
