This last bit is massively significant and confirms that we didnt see it coming and it wasnt our decision. If it was, someone would be in before the weekend and the transfer window opening. Simple as. Yep, but he was assistant manager, not coach.
@bbcburnsy: I'm told Steve Agnew's departure from Hull City is amicable. Middlesboro made him a financial offer he couldn't refuse. #hcafc End of speculation.
Seems strange that Boro can offer him a better package than us, assuming Brucie wanted to keep him. Maybe he/Allam saw it as an opportunity for compo and to bring in a fresh replacement
Well it's not is it? I can cast iron guarantee that Burnsy asked City's PR guy what has happened and if I was in them shoes this is exactly what I'd say. Precisely. If a player chose Boro over us because "they made him a financial offer he couldnt refuse" we wouldnt buy it for a second. Two years EPL money at it's highest ever level and Boro are ****ing skint. If you think that ends speculation then Columbo's got nowt to be worried about.
I really think if Bruce wanted to keep him City would of offered him more money. I think the club and Bruce see it as a opportunity to bring some fresh ideas in, fresh training regimes ans maybe a few tatics, he we may even find someone who knows something about set pieces. We know nothing about Agnew's circumstances, his family, travelling etc etc. If it is the start of a sinking ship player and staff wise then it will be someone we don't have to sack!
I suspect this bit says a whole lot more "whilst we are sad to see him leave we also must see this as an opportunity".
I also suspect that the Club (including SB) have seen this as a perfect opportunity to try a new dynamic that will hopefully prove to be the catalyst that turns our season and beyond, around. Not necessarily anything against Agnew but perhaps we just need some new ideas and a fresh impetus!
I suspect we'll get a very underwhelming appointment. In the position we're in Bruce really doesnt want someone hovering around who might be considered for his job a la Brownie and Parky.
Doesn't have to be a big name et al Shearer or Keane, the size of the name or his ability at football is irrelevant, look at Mourinho. His ability to man manage, tatical knowledge and personality is more important, in which Keane and Shearer have non of these abilities.
How on earth is Alan Shearer exciting? He's done **** all in management other than a tiny spell at Newcastle. Ridiculous suggestion.
I'd go for Dowie myself. He knows the club. He knows the players. Well apart from McShane maybe none of them. Oh well he knows the M62. He knows the way to the KC. He's available.
You could say the same thing about Teddy Sheringham but look at what he has turned West Ham's forward line into. Anyway, if shearer comes, I want Justin Whittle back too That should liven things up a little
