    I know it's not a definate thing as many training with different numberr but it would come as no suprise. Wayne Routledge just tweeted this picture of his new training kit.

    53??? Talk about a kick in the nuts on your first day back to work!

    Thats like coming back after leave and your boss telling you, you have a new desk....away from the rest of the team....sat up in the attic!!

    to be fair if you look at the pictures of the players training that get posted on the offical site every other week, very few of them actually wear the gear with there actual squad number on, they probs just grab the 1st set that fit

    This is true, if you see weekly training photos the players have randomly numbered kits. I think Wayne's being sarcastic as he picked up 53 which really is a random number

    They always use wrong numbers on training kits. Half of the time Steven Taylor trained last year with a number 9 jumper on. Here's a good example:

    Look through the pictures, about half way through, you'll see Nolan wearing the no.14 top, with no. 5 shorts, and Barton with no. 27 shorts. Training numbers mean nothing.

    EDIT: The time I spent finding this example, other people beat me to it.

    He just posted a link to the picture with the hash tag #newsquadnumber? I don't think he's happy with it, but I don't think he'd say anything about it on twitter.

    Nolan had the #99 shorts last August after returning from his Hols.....as in 99inch waist!!

    He kept them until mid October!!!
