Even £40m+ from the likes of Liverpool would not be worth EPL survival. Got to go out with a bold statement from Tony Fernandes that he's going no where.
If the club ever wants to be able to fill a 40k capacity stadium, they need to roll out the money to keep one of the best players in the league (at the moment at least).
While Charlie is happily scoring goals for us, Hull must be really kicking themselves right now, especially after losing 1-0 at home to Swansea! Liverpool spilled £35 million on Andy Carroll, who knows what kind of offer they might make for Charlie if really interested, although based on the Loic Remy medical saga, you would think they might be hesitant?
Agreed. No point in preparing for new stadium and letting the likes of Charlie go. On the other hand, if the lad wants to go, can we stop him?
I think at the least he'll see the season out with us. His value will rise if he gets an England call
His price for Liverpool (for example) and his price to us are miles apart. They'll go for a proven European goal scorer because they won't pay over the odds and are a massive club.
Another tremendous performance from Charlie, keeping us afloat virtually single-handed. It's imperative we stay up to be able to nail him down on as lucrative a contract as he wants, he'll be the first name on the teamsheet unlike elsewhere...
I think he's a smart enough guy to recognise that we gave him his chance to play in the Prem, and we play to his strengths as a team. I think if Liverpool or Spurs signed him for example he'd struggle with their style of play as the pass to death method isn't his game. He comes alive when the game is direct and he's making runs off of Zamora. Hope he stays and continues to flourish
Was thinking the exact same thing after the result today. No amount of money should be enough to prise him away from us. Though if Liverpool still had Suarez maybe a swap deal would have worked?
