Maybe not but still another grand performance by HDO of top weight. The Young Master is open to plenty more improvement though. Didn't settle early and jumped left most of the way round. The channel 4 numpties only noticed when he went off at 90 degrees at one. Must be one for a left handed track......in March perhaps.
Well done backers of The Young Master, a very good consolation for that "D" in his formline. A non-going day for me so far, so no change there! I did have Grendisar from my tracker at Lingfield at 11-10 but didn't mention as I only spotted it late My last two Red Danaher in the 3-15 at Hay and a confident ew (if that's not a contradiction) on Pine Creek in the last at Ascot. I'm inclined to agree with Boris and Harch re Zarkandar - it all becomes obvious afterwards!
Another pissing second - at least I get a return, took 16-1 last night Good luck if playing on - I'll be playing up my losses on That's The Dream, 8-36 Wimbledon tonight! Bye all
Two winners, three places! Clondaw let me down for scoop placepot (not that it would have paid much) and a decent profit on me 63
I didn't bet it so my pocket is as full or empty now as it was pre race. I would have taken 6/5 about Zarkandar there though and can 100% see how that ride can be classed a little less than adequate. I saw the end of the race as Zarkandar idling after the last. He battled back when over taken so i'm not sure where the 'doesn't stay' comments come from. That wasn't a performance form a horse that does't see out the trip. Well done if people backed Reve but i think you've gotten lucky. That's fair enough because that's racing.
I agree with this, I didn't have a bet in the race either just thought it was really poor effort by STD
What would you have had Sam do different? He didn't change his pace or ask for an effort when going passed RDS, Zarkandar took him there, are you saying he should've taken a pull before jumping the last? I can't see how the jockey has cost this horse the race at all.
Zarkandar outstayed fair and square by a horse who made a cpl of quite serious mistakes in the race and its the "jockey got him beat" but its all the New Ones fault when he loses with the same jockey Quality stuff Every race Zarkandar has won, kept finding, stayed on well, rallied stayed on well under pressure.... he looked like a bridle horse today and he is anything but, stamina was stretched to the limit against a real out and out stayer who has similar level of class to him at his best. Wouldnt have mattered what STD done there, Reves mistakes probably allowed him to come there so easily, he might have had a bigger lead and not been headed but for them. The market had it badly wrong, that much is certain.
The Topaz chase looks an absolute cracker. Don Poli 9/4, Mala Beach 11/4, The Tullow Tank 11/2(lol), Lots Of Memories 6/1, Shanahans Turn 6/1 A real dilema for me as Mala Beach and Lots Of Memories are my horses but no one has impressed me more this season than Shanahans Turn and I think he is the value at 6/1, undecided at the minute but hope they all turn up.
There is just no such thing as a 'dead cert' in any form of gambling, fusion. I note that I am not the first person to have said this on the forum. Always some damn thing will let you down in this form of betting?
Evening all just caught up with the racing, been riding me own horses so busy day. Reve ,what a performance wow! The young master has got gold cup written all over him, remember where you heard it first. He will be even better going round Cheltenham.
I love the "no offence" of the arrogance of a winning bet. Hiwever zarkandar idled I front and lost by a head. Your horse was lucky to finish boris nothin more nothin less. You tipped it up however how much did you back it in running such was your "confidence" no wait HOW MUCH*? EXACTLY
I wouldn't bother arguing back mate, this blokes arrogance knows no bounds, its his opinion or nothing, everyone else can go **** themselves as far as he's concerned
Have you ever mentioned STD as a reason for TNO losing last year at Cheltenham? If you haven't then i'm failing to see the relevance to todays race and jockeys poor show. The New One is not as good as you think he is. You have him wrong, that much is certain.
Never bet in running in my life so not sure what the relevance of that question is. Of course like everyone else going to the last I thought Zarkandar was going to win, but it became apparent very quickly after they jumped it that he wasnt going anywhere near as well as the jockeys body language had suggested. Reve De Sivola then looked like he was going to win it comfortably before getting tired himself. Lucky to finish, nothing more nothing less? The horse hasnt won the race 3 times by accident, by all accounts it should have been a bit more comfortable if he had jumped better and the ground hadnt dried out. I dont really get the meaning of that statement either, the horse won, nothing more nothing less. Stayed on his feet, nothing more nothing less, it was a jump race, nothing more nothing less. To be honest I was surprised Zarkandar was even involved in the finish, I didnt really rate him as a big threat pre race as I was pretty well convinced he wasnt made for 3m1 at Ascot but the ground was nowhere near as soft as I anticipated.
He isnt as good as I think he is? Well, how good do I think he is and how good is he? I think he is one one of the best 2 mile hurdlers around just now, no Hurricane Fly or Istabraq but a top class animal, so how wrong have I got it? And please tell me how STD could have won the race today because ive heard both that he should have went earlier and that he should have waited. Im assuming the latter now that the jockey has said it himself. I wasnt surprised by the result so I wasnt looking for reasons to explain it, I had them pre race, the right horse won the race in my book and I couldnt believe the price which is why I was a bit hyper after it, plus it was a pretty epic finish.
And I didnt even see this post Bob when I posted after the race, so I wasnt having a dig at you when I said cant believe how wrong the punters got it, in case thats what you thought as it could look that way. I was just meaning the market in general. A large percentage of them probably put away again by a trainer in fairness.
