Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has hailed his teams latest win as a "Triumph" and proof that Liverpool are now on the right track. Rodgers was quick to praise his makeshift striker Raheem Sterling "Little Raheem has done a great job against one of the best defences in Europe, I thought the first goal was a wonderful example of our patience, movement and creativity. It was an outstanding goal. We showed real authority on the ball and we waited for the moment to penetrate a very good team.". Rodgers also praised his defence "They kept Torres quiet all night, I thought he may get a bit more of a grilling from the crowd and he had a wee spell where he hit the post but I thought we recovered well and got our composure back again. We were relaxed on the ball and we saw the game through, created some more chances. We could have been more comfortable, but I'm happy we scored three." When asked about the semi-final draw against Chelsea Rodgers was in a bullish mood "I didn't realise it was the semis already but we'll beat whoever is put in front of us and hopefully win this famous cup for a 6th time!" It was then pointed out that Liverpool had played Bournemouth in the League Cup and not AC Milan in the Champions League. Rodgers replied "Ah ****!"
Rodgers will be hailed a tactical genius on Sunday for not playing the injured Glen Johnson and Dejan Lovren.
You missed the part where he said each player on the pitch tonight has written themselves into the history and folklore of the club by reaching the semi final of the littlewoods cup. It doesnt get much better than this and the fans that were here tonight will be telling their grandkids about this.
I must say I saw his post-match comments and I just cringed. Even as a United fan I thought "What the heck is he doing?" Surely he realises that 99% of the LFC fans will know he's talking absolute bollocks, and will be able to see right through all the fake praise and bullishness? And the players will as well? I know it's the first win in a while so it's good for morale etc., but surely you just get on with it, you don't act like you've smashed Real Madrid 3-1 away from home? To me it smacks of insecurity, he's trying to pull the wool over the fans/players/critics' eyes but he's just being too obvious about it, it's embarrassing. I've seen similar over-the-top positive statements by other managers that are under pressure (hence my insecurity statement) like Roy Hodgson when he was your manager, Moyes at MUFC etc. What do you guys think?
tic toc wonder how long he has got. 2 cup finals wasn't good enough for one manager, and it is very very unlikely we will get a top 4 finish, so must be curtains for him, just when. we already looking? as already said, i take absolute no notice of what he has to say, nearly as bad as listening to roy ffs!!
Difference is, Kenny was older and only ever a temporary solution who kept is job through good early performances. He didn't really deserve the sack but the owner wanted a younger guy. Brod is their true chosen man so they may be more tolerant.
I think honestly fsg have no clue.... Henry can go do some baseball but he doesn't get football at all so relies utterly on "advice" therefore I feel until he asks someone should I sack him... Which prob will only be at end of year..... Then nothing will occur
It took me a good few minutes and two Google searches before I could be certain that this wasn't actually a verbatim transcript of Rodger's post match comments...
Come on guys!!!! The clues were there at the beginning of his first season when he did that documentary in the US. He has talked boll..x since he joined!!! We took on a manager who inherited a half decent Swansea side after being sacked by Reading. It should never have been good enough for our club.
