Man this Apple documentary on BBC is depressing. Valueing money more then human life, shows how sick some humans actually are.
They might have been made into *****philes by being abused in public school, but they weren't made into murderers by being murdered.
Um wondering how "high" up some of these people were in our society. I do fear that someone in a position of power is going to be proven to have abused that power soon. Saville had perceived power, some actually had power.
If anyone has been waiting for an Android app for the Saints player, your wait is over. It is OK'd by Saints: Saints Player app for Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.tribehive.fliplayer There is also one for iPhones: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/fli-player/id942463941?mt=8 If you intend to download the link later but forget where it is, I've also put it in the Basic Editor and Newbie's Guide for keeps. And as for that Apple link, perhaps anyone who buys an Apple product should look at the Panorama documentary and see why I hold them, and their products, in such contempt. I've always had a reasonably fair idea about their work practices behind the scenes. Now here's proof: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b04vs348/panorama-apples-broken-promises What a kewl company. Not. And yes, I'm sure there are plenty of other companies that have their own shortcomings. But none cut so much hype.
TSS, I saw this advertised and recorded the program to watch later. I saw ten minutes yesterday. It looks bad, however in the short part I saw, it looked similar to lots and lots of things I have seen in Chinese factories. This doesn't make it right I sgree, however they should do a program like this every week and just change the company each time. I will watch the rest later and I wonder if the focus part will be that Apple "say" everything complies with their ethics policy. So many manufacturing companies are like this out there, that the program perhaps should be about manufacturing practices rather than a specific company. Is Panorama more concerned with showing Apple in a bad light or the mistreating if local workers in China? If it is genuinely the latter, then there will be a series of programs. I would only hope that the program improves conditions everywhere, but I doubt that.
The BBC should make a programme about the treatment of Chinese workers in general...but they wouldn't dare. Does anyone believe that Apple would be permitted to treat workers worse than the Chinese standard. I suppose the BBC think that they can't shame the Chinese, so a way forward is to make a large Western company embarrassed and raise their standards. I think it is important for companies like Apple to set decent standards, but I suspect the locals wouldn't like it.
It is obvious why they go for Apple. They are one of if not the largest company in the world and they claim to be cleaning up their act. The disgust and backlash will hopefully get them to change and then other companies will follow scared of the same fate.
The BBC also did a panarama programme about Primark last year and this year had to make a public apology and was given a hefty fine for making most of the so called facts up......so I would take it with a pinch of salt myself. Not saying apple are innocent but the way the BBC make it sound might not be the entire truth.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-13798688 I am not saying apple are innocent or other monster companies it's like reading the paper.....there will be some truth in it just not all of it.
If BBC lied we will find out won't we? I am sure Apple will be all to ready to havea dig back. The main point is it is highlighting the **** Apple do. Making $350 profit on every phone, yet you still have slaves working for you is more then disgusting.
It's the same with Honda, Toyota , Ford etc....they have cars made in Pakistan,Turkey ,India for peanuts long hours and no health and safety laws at all but charge premium prices in Europe and the USA.
