Perused the Dutch media, absolutely nothing on this except a couple of articles quoting the Daily Fail. VI, Voetbal International, reported that Sneijder could receive an offer from ManU in case the Lampard-loan cannot be extended. I'd say very unlikely for a move to the Saints.
Is he still the same player he was 5 years ago? Heard a dip in form was the reason for him leaving for Galatasaray but in the few times I've seen him recently he still looks a high level player.
He's not the same Sneijder of Real Madrid or Inter Milan. He runs less, more efficient. Still has a stunning free kick and long shot in his leg. His game nowadays is more about passing, creating space and more tactically. He's becoming more and more like Totti or Gerard, just less physical. His is now more of a general these days. Directing and supporting the team.
Truly cannot see this happening....that is not to say I wouldn't want it to happen. Just unlikely, not sure we would pay 9 million odd for a player in his thirties which is the fee I understand is being bandied about.
Well that isn't extortionate, however I find that tough to believe. If it is true then get him in for 6 months.
One newspaper copies another. It won't happen. Passed it, overrated, overpaid; no player is bigger than the team. This is not a strong rumour. He's been 'linked' with Southampton and Man United, both of which conveniently have Dutch managers.
I agree with your 'won't happen' and lazy journalism views regarding Dutch managers, but "passed it" - are you taking the piss?
I wouldn't say no if the price is affordable. Could be the different in achieving a champions league slot this season if we did sign him and that would certainly cover his costs.
Well that seems to be that. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...t-southampton-not-in-the-running-9933371.html
