    Don't worry, it's just a pantomime.

Having a feud with OLM sounds funny.

See that a poster who calls himself "Happy Tiger" liked your post. Revel in that "like" and smother your arse cheeks in it.

Nobody is brainwashed by CTWD, it's about the name, how is that not clear to people? We aren't running for the general election, there's no bullshit, we get all our facts from the public domain and opinion aside, I'm not aware we've said anything that isn't true.

I'm perfectly capable of rational thought, I just don't want my football club to be changed from Hull City AFC to Hull Tigers.

"So who do you support then mate?"
    "Hull Tigers"
"Sounds a bit ****. Why did they change it?"
"Because our owner thought it would make us more money."
    "Did it?"
"We're still hopeful it will happen."
"It's 2023 Tommy, it's not very likely is it?"
"Hey, the Allam family put their money in, they can do what ever they want, the name isn't that important."
"Really? So all those customers of the Royal Bank of Scotland are going to stay, despite the planned name change to "Scotch Cash", are they?"
    "Well, no, probably not."
"Or what about the hundreds of thousands of people who visit Disney's Magic Kingdom every year, will they still go if they change it to Mouseland?"
"It's a recognised brand, of course they will."
"Yeah, but Hull Tigers isn't. Hull City wasn't. You never actually won anything, so what exactly is the point of changing the name of an unknown quantity in the vein hope that it's moniker suddenly becomes the most important thing about it?"
    "Er."
"Right. So in actual fact, your owner was so convinced of the success of this idea, he went ahead and changed the name of your football club, without consulting the fan's opinion first, assumed that because more people stayed quiet instead of speaking out it meant that he was obviously right, went against the grain of most business models and essentially just pissed into the wind, do I have that right?"
"Blimey, I hadn't thought of it like that."
"Neither did Assem Allam. If those Ehab clones hadn't taken over half of Britain, it probably would've been more of a hot topic."

You're right its not taboo, but some think it is. I've spoken to a few people, on here and in person, who genuinely believe there is something wrong with singing certain songs at certain times of the game. No amount of common sense seems to help these Allam disciples.

It's one of the saddest things about this whole situation, that some fans find themselves sick of hearing the word tigers and have almost come to dislike our nickname, while others oppose the singing of our traditional songs and talk about our history in the kind of negative way you'd expect from a Leeds fan who'll never quite get it. Our own fans have put the owner and his stupid argument above the very fabric of the club itself. ****s, yes, but following the lead of the bigger **** that owns the club.

If your mum moved to Milton Keynes or Leeds or Liverpool, she'd still be your mum.

MK Dons won the FA Cup, they added to the history of Wimbledon FC by changing their name and their ground. But football isn't about the company that owns the FA's golden ticket, its about a community and that community's support for their club. Not support for the owner, the players or the manager. They come and go, some are good, some are bad and some are indifferent, but the club remains.

MK Dons is a good example because the majority of their original community decided history had ended and formed their own club and rebuilt a new tradition from the move of their club to Milton Keynes. MK Dons hung on to Wimbledon's history until they realised their new community wasn't interested in the FA Cup win because it wasn't their team, it wasn't their club, it had nothing to do with them. They built a new tradition and history that has nothing to do with Wimbledon, other than it meant they started in the football league and not with non-League football.

Assem Allam bought the limited companies that own Hull City and lease the ground for a quid and thought, after his spate with the council, he could do whatever he wanted with the name. He didn't ask us what we thought, he didn't organise a ballot of supporters, he just said the day before we celebrated Andy Dawson's service to the Tiger Nation, "I'm going to change the name". The FA had to agree to the change so CTWD decided our campaign was aimed at persuading the FA to say no. We hoped to be able to change his mind but we couldn't, so the FA was our only chance of keeping our name. In that we were successful.

If he had of been successful Hull City for me would have died and I would have looked at creating a football club that respected its community. Having given up the name as being lousy, common and irrelevant, there is no reason why we couldn't be called AFC Hull City. We'd have started at the bottom of the football pyramid but the club would have been ours, not a means for a bitter old man to have a pop at the Council because they didn't given him the freehold, or sent a woman to talk to him, or Stephen Bayes wore his nurses uniform because he'd come straight off a shift, or Geraghty was rude to him.

He may have given us Premier League football but Manchester United were the most successful football club in the world and it didn't stop a group of supporters saying, this isn't my club anymore, lets start a new one. If you ask any of them now, do you think they'll have any regrets, I don't. AFC Wimbledon and FC United of Manchester showed, to me, that if Hull City died and became Hull Tigers there was a future. We didn't have to do what he wanted and continue to watch his company's team or stop watching football, we could build our own club, our own community and our own history.

The things I think Assem Allam has done well. He saved our team from administration. He lent us enough money to get into the Premier League. He's invested in the youth facilities and the new owners will have a solid foundation on which to build. Finally he knows nothing about football and left Steve Bruce alone to manage the team and that got us to the FA Cup Final. If that is all he did he'd be leaving as an hero, with a statue in West Park.

Unfortunately he showed he is a spiteful, arrogant and childish old man. During Hull City's greatest achievements he left a sour taste in my mouth. Watching Hull City isn't as enjoyable as it was. Part of that is the evictions but only part.

As to acting like a 3 year old. He's sold the club and as a parting gift he advertises us as Hull Tigers in India and changes the Twitter accounts. A bit like you selling your house and before completion stencilling "Happy Tiger" on all the walls. You know the new owner will paint over them but you have to leave your mark, just one last time. Same with the Council lease. How best to show "I'm the best owner" and get back at the Council, Adam Pearson and Russell Bartlett. Adam Pearson sold the SMC for a profit and the Liberal Council agreed the sale and didn't challenge the mortgage. So what?

The deal Pearson did with the Labour Council helped us get to the Championship from the bottom of the 4th division. Getting to the Championship attracted Bartlett who borrowed enough money to pay for the purchase and get us into the Premier League. Without Pearson and Bartlett Assem Allam wouldn't have thought twice about saving us.

Finally, if as seems likely, he's sold us, he'll have made a profit from the £1 investment he made in Hull City, after taking into account the tax Allamhouse hasn't had to pay, the interest charged, the monies repaid last season and the selling price. I, for one, am very grateful he has all his money back and then some.

In 10 years time you'll look back and remember all the good things Assem Allam did. For that you get my respect, as you earned it during the past 18 months or so. Unfortunately I cannot erase the way a grown man acted like a 3 year old because the council, a section of the support and the wider football family didn't give him what he wanted. He will be remembered by a minority but he won't be remembered with the warmth that surrounds Harold Needler.

The King is dead, long live the King, another chapter of Hull City's history opens, interesting times in deed.

To be fair, your post wasn't that sensible in our circumstances. Most people don't actually hate the owner, so your flaber need not be gasted. <ok>

I think you need to have a read through this thread and have a look at the way some of the people on here speak about him.
