SUNDERLAND BOSS POYET TARGETS THREE ATTACKING SIGNINGS Submitted by Tribal Football Staff 6 hours ago Sunderland boss Gus Poyet is seeking top attacking signings this January market. Poyet highlighted the need for new wide players and a centre-forward to be added to a squad which has scored 14 goals in 16 Premier League games this season. Assessing his players he said: âWe look organised and difficult to beat, weâre trying to pass the ball as much as we can with the quality of players we have but when we get into the last third the delivery needs to be better â thatâs quality, the finishing needs to be better â thatâs quality, the heading needs to be better â thatâs quality, the shot needs to be in the right place. âWe keep hitting the guy in front of us, so thatâs quality.â stop fekking moaning and change tactics not your way or no way set up
Ings, Joel Campbell and that lad from Galatasaray, his name escapes me . Wouldn't be at all shocked if Johnson was sold if Poyet gets his men.
Listening to the Mags game last Saturday on the way home from ours, Mick Martin or it could have been his co-presenter reckons they are going to sign Ings, I hope he was wrong Edit: Sorry mate just noticed, this should have been attached to WMS's post
Clockstander, merry xmas by the way, £6 million for AJ and £4 for Fletch, I would sell. What price would you put on them ?
Are you suggesting he abandon the system the whole team has been working to since his arrival? The system the players were signed to suit? No. Defensively we're solid, and we have chances to win games we're just not taking them, sign some attackers and we could start winning games
And a very merry Xmas to you and yours Steve, I would agree with your valuations for AJ but I like Fletch and would hang on to him for now. Jozy and Danny would be on their way just to free up some wages and if we can get 4m for the pair I would take it.
The system has given us just two wins so far, surely until we have better options, just a tweak here and there could perhaps, make a difference to our chances of scoring with the players we currently have.
I agree it carries risk, but I would suggest using Briddo in the midfield along with Catts to give us a hell of a defensive platform, allowing us to play Fletch and Whicks up front, with two wide men, This is just a suggestion, I am sure Gus must feel that something is not quite right and I hope he works it out soon, he got it right last season and I,m sure he will this time, he is a real football man no doubt.
Totally agree there's no need to change his tactics - since promotion, we've bought a lot of players, but never really thought about tactics. Bruce, Keane etc just assumed they'd play well together.. I like Fletch and there's a lot of potential in Connor, but if Gus doesn't think they work then fair enough. He's not signed a striker and deserves at least that*. Doesn't make sense to back him so much up til now and then get rid, we're making chances, Jozy and Fletch just can't finish them (yet)! *Scocco doesn't count.
