Don't laugh.Sheffield might be rubbing their hands at the thought of playing Spurs! They certainly didn't want Chelsea.Maybe not Liverpool either.......
Two legs makes a big difference. A one-off tie away from home is tricky but it's hard to see Spurs losing over two games.
Seeing Alnwick screw things up tonight is a timely reminder of this game: Poxy weather, poxy keeper, poxy defending and poxy music.
Best possible draw for both teams, on the flip side in the other tie it was the worst possible draw for both teams.
It doesn't really matter who Chelsea play at the moment to be fair - you squad is too good for anyone else in this country right now.
Not sure about that. Liverpool needed penalties just to beat Boro and they're as dodgy at Anfield as we are at home. It's about time you drew a Premier League side in a cup though, you've had none out of the previous 4 draws!
Jose treats this competition seriously (good for him) so I expect strong teams turning out in both legs. Having got this far, he won't jeopardise your chances, so a Chelsea win is highly likely whoever you were drawn to play.
So, Chavski win the final and finish in the top four, the team they beat qualify for the Pooropa League regardless - so, what is the point of it all? Money > integrity
The losing finalist of the League Cup doesn't qualify for the Europa, IIRC. Why that's not the same as the FA Cup, I don't know.
Was a great night down the Lane. Was delighted for Nabil to get on the scoresheet, his performances this season have thoroughly deserved to be rewarded by a bit of individual success. Still hard to believe he only turned 20 a couple of months back. Chadli looked like he was getting his match fitness back, his goal weren't too shabby either. Bobby coming off the bench and scoring will do him some good and Kane typically kept up his great scoring form. Bring on Sheffield United.
Yeah I think you're right, PNP. If the winner of the League Cup is already in Europe then the team in 6th place gets into Europa.
Congrats on the win guys Was well deserved, too many tired legs for us unfortunately. The wait continues for that all elusive trophy...
Thanks mate, I think Poch - like us fans - is desperate to win some silverware so I think he urged our lads to treat this one like a final. I suppose with Sunderland on the weekend for you lot, you already had one eye on that fixture too.
Thought Pardew got the line up wrong, Williamson just isn't good enough at this level and Dummett isn't a right back in a million years. As you say though, it's derby day on Sunday and he knows he can't afford to lose four in a row to that lot so it's understandable that he didn't risk Cisse or Tiote. Hope yourselves or Sheffield Utd win it now so good luck if (when) you get to the final
Impressive display from Christian Eriksen with a hat-trick of assists. And only Sergio Aguero and Diego Costa have scored more goals in all competitions this season than Harry Kane. Does anyone still think he isn't good enough for Spurs, I wonder? please log in to view this image
Yeah sticking a left-footer at right back is never ideal, I think Chadli realised that as despite being a right footer who usually cuts inside (which he did for his goal), he also has a left foot on him and exploited Dummett's weaker side a number of times by running the line and getting some decent crosses in. Was Williamson played because you have no choice or was there a better alternative available? If we had a derby on the weekend I doubt Poch would have fielded as many first teamers as he did tonight, even if we are pretty desperate for some silverware. Cheers for the well-wishes, best of luck to yourselves in the Derby
