So in the run in to Christmas we have the most awful attack by the Taliban bravely massacring 130 odd kids whose heinous crime appears to be a desire for education. We can only hope that this evil is massively publicised and acts as a wake up call to any Muslims who had sympathy for their cause.

In other news the wheels seem to be rapidly falling off the Russian economy with amazon ceasing trade with the country as the currency is so volatile. A direct cause of this are the falling oil price and sanctions. Have to say that I am slightly concerned that if things deteriorate further over there Putin may decide to chance his arm and move west.

Nothing like a few cheery thoughts at Christmas eh?

Talking of 'cheeriness', anyone been watching The Missing? I was quite enjoying it until the final episode last night which I though was absolutely dreadful, hated it and it left me wondering what kind of sick **** would sit down and write something like that?

If that's what some people call 'entertainment' then I feel for them, there's enough sadness in the world as it is without having to watch **** like that, regardless how good the acting was.

I've just watched the final episode and have to say what an awful ending to what has been a fascinating serial, how did he end up in Russia, I didn't get that connection at all?

Words absolutely fail me, we're living in the year 2014AD and there are still so many people living in the Dark Ages.
The downright evil and ignorance beggars belief, RIP little ones <rose><rose><rose>

This is a terrible and despicable act of Barbarism and certainly not done in the name of Islam.

Well,it was done in the name of Islam. However you want to cut it the perps see themselves as doing Allah's work. The more I learn about the religion the more I think it totally incompatible with the modern world. The IRA had a grievance that could at least be addressed and negotiated. The Taliban just represent an extreme branch of Islam. If they are given into I fear for the female half of the population. No education,no property and bits hacked off them at the whim of the savages.

As for "The Missing" . I took it from the drawing on the window of the Russian police car that the boy is not dead.I think you will find there is a second series.

Don't think so mate, Tony drew that on the window. There is a second series but it's going to be about a completely new case, albeit with potential links between the two apparently. I certainly won't be watching it anyway

Did you see the thing on the BBC?

2 ex-British soldiers went out to volunteer with the Kurdish fighters to fight IS after the execution of Allan Henning.

When they returned they were held and questioned for 6 hours and gave good old telling off and told not to do it again. Urrghhh.

Putin knows that his economy is too reliant on income
from Oil and Gas,and the constraints imposed by the west
on his trading will force his hand, one way or the other.

He has already looked to China to sell Gas,but at a reduced
price,so that will not cover the shortfall Russia will face
with the current drop in Oil and Gas prices.
He cannot afford to "cut off" supplies to West as a
further drop in income would be catastrophic.
His only way IMO out of this is to move out of
Ukraine and Crimea and try to re-establish trading links with
    the West

As regards any "chancing of his arm" and eyeing further
West is a non starter.Russia have not got the military
clout they had years ago,and the fear of a Nuclear
War would make this a no no.

Putin is very astute in the way he deals with major
problems and seems capable of twisting the truth
so he convinces the Russian masses that all the
blame goes to the West, that the West are against
    Russia and want them humiliated.
Apparently 90% of the population think Putin
    is a good leader.
Might change though in the next few months
    when supplies start running out.

The massacre in Pakistan is beyond belief.
In 2014 we are still living in "dark ages"in
    some countries.
My heart goes out to all the children killed
    in this tragedy.<rose><rose><rose>

Cannot comment on The Missing as I did not
    watch it.Can't stand James Nesbitt

I can't help thinking that we are meddling in Russian internal affairs. It is rather as if,going back to our fight with the Irish, the USSR had leant on Thatcher for our human rights record in Ireland. Imagine the outrage that would have caused. I think Putin is just viewed by the bulk of Russians as standing up for their country. Don't forget that not long ago Dave and the baldy twat were itching to pile in against Assad, presumably on the side of ISIS.

Sorry if this offends anyone but I am moving more and more to this point of view the longer time goes on.

And therein lies the problem, everyone is scared of offending, for one reason or another. I have had lots of Black and Asian customers. One Ugandan asian I would regard as a friend so it's not race that represents the problem. The rise of UKIP, who I regard as little better than the BNP is linked with the increase in Islamic terrorism. Older, less well educated are to flocking to UKIP because they appear to offer the only opposition to Islam. This is very dangerous indeed.

Cheers for ruining this thread Cruyff this isn't the right thread to carry on spouting your bile and hatred towards those you don't agree with. Just spare a thought for those poor innocents that got massacred and drop the political point scoring.

The reference to Cameron wanting to plié into Assad on the side of ISIS is particularly disgusting and unwarranted. We shouldn't take lessons from you and you're mate Blair on how to conduct an ethical foreign policy!

Excuse me Walt, you have a short memory. It was only Milipede blocking it that prevented Cameron going in with both planes blazing. And deposing Gaddafi, that went well didn't it? Maybe Hague should have spent more time wrestling with Seb Coe.

On the positive side congratulation to Obama for breaking the Cuba impasse.

You are the expert on BS Walt. The problem I find with fantasists is they never really know where the reality ends and their own manic propaganda begins. It all becomes merged into one great BS tsunami. I suggest you revisit the recent past and see what great successes that erstwhile peddlar of lemonade and tootler of the pink oboe William Jefferson Hague achieved. This truly is a government of political ne'er do wells. I am not surprised you are such a big fan Walt old buddy.

You lost sight of all reality years ago mate. Hell you supported the biggest fantasist of them all the one that led us into our worst foreign adventures since Suez but hey don't let the facts get in the way of your delusions. An innocent man was hounded to his death by dear old Tony and Campbell aided and abetted him. Good luck with your Socialist hell and thank god the country will reject you and your kind next May.
