This could seriously effect chelseas projected £1 profit as its likely the Fulham based Russian toy will need to pay vast sums to have their rubbish disposed of.

    Worst striker in world football?

The two year "loan" was embarrassing enough.

Sad demise of a really good player but sometimes you get what you deserve.

Are there any other examples of two year loans, especially for a 30 year old player? Loans tend to be for shorter periods than two years which coincidentally was the time left on his contract. It was obvious that the club had no offers for the player and wanted a solution. Offloading him to AC for the remainder of his contract so they could save on some/all of his wages was the best option available to them. So effectively the residual transfer value on a £50million player was zero. If AC are going to send him back after half a season of a two year loan then the player is either going to have to accept a loan move to a "smaller" club or pretty much retire. I can see Liverpool having a similar problem with Balotelli. What club is going to want to pay a transfer fee for a striker who doesn't score or assist any goals?

I don't get what's embarassing about that though? Even if he was sold, it was never going to be near £50m. Every single Chelsea fan has accepted how bad a signing he was. Selling him onto someone was near impossible to do due to his ridiculous wages for a player of his level.

Soon changed their tune, didn't they?

    http://www1.skysports.com/football/...-he-will-not-mistreat-torres-like-chelsea-did

The details of Torres loan have never been made public, but it is believed that AC would be responsible for paying most, if not all, his wages. Which would probably explain why they want rid so soon! However they signed up to a 2 year deal, so I doubt they can get out of it so easily. If they can find another club to take him on then good luck to them, but fairly confident we won't see Torres in a Chelsea shirt again.

When he was at Liverpool he was arguably on of the best strikers in the World although it was for a short period to suggest otherwise is just silly.

His shelf life was up long ago but he remained lucrative as shirt sales alone paid his ridiculous transfer fee and he did get us a Champions league final in Munich so not all bad. :)
