Small squad getting smaller by the minute isn't helping.

As some of you are might be aware, I am a hybrid supporter - we do exist!!! It means supporting local teams ie Saints and Pompey. To paraphrase and borrow your words RLGB I fell out of love with Pompey when they reached the PL. I fell in love with Saints again in 2009 when at the foot of League 1. Still in "love" with Saints so tonight's result will not make any difference to how I feel about Saints - a club well worth supporting by everyone in Hampshire and surrounding areas through thick and thin.

Wanyama and Rodriguez weren't **** from the outset though. Mane is like a more out of form Ramirez. i.e. not good enough for the PL.

Then the fans would go even more mad, look at last season for a example. The manager can't win either way.

I can't comment on tonights game because I wasn't there, but against Burnley I have never seen a saints team look as disjointed and uninterested. I'm not if they're knackered or if something bigger has gone on but I think we're pretty ****ed come Saturday

As an aside apparently it's all kicking off big time in Sheffield, hope those at the game get home safe

Sounds like the two benches were pretty much at each throats all evening. Chris Morgan sent to the stands. Koeman refusing to shake hands at the end. Solent mentioned the touchline antics at least a couple of times during the match.

So where do we go from here. All round a very disappointing month - a few of us had been suckered into believing the "New Saints" and lofty ambitions. But tonight reminded me of so many dismal performances we put in the cups during the nineties - Stockport, Tranmere - the list is endless. So yes we are all extremely disappointed. A month ago, things looked like a realistic stab at top 4 and a semi final in the LC, and final if we avoided Chelsea.

I think we need to still believe in the dream, we are in 5th, 2 points behind 4th, the top three are gone, but there is so much to play for, we can still have a vey good season - top 6 is there for the taking - but we need to believe, we need to help the team believe and we need to help RK believe (as his confidence will have been dented) - we were good in those first twelve games - the difference now is confidence, whereby the pass is under hit or hit too wide - small margins

We've shipped a couple out on loan.
Gardos didn't look like a back up signing at the time but became one when the Alderweireld signing came off. Apparently unable to displace the questionable decent backup Yoshida.
Mane doesn't look like first team material but seems to have the Forster anointment.

Not a signing and I couldn't watch this game but I still have reservations about JWP tbh.

I remember people being pissed off about the FA Cup but not so much the League Cup. I can't speak for everyone but, while I'd prefer Saints to take the FA Cup seriously, I really don't care about the League Cup at all.

I'd argue Forster wasn't a great signing given the situation we were in. He's not a poor keeper by any means but as I said at the time I think spending £2m on a decent backup for Boruc and £8m on another forward would have been better for the squad.

Anyway, this is done now. Hopefully we get an improved performance against Everton.

You can not make that many signings in one window, even before they left we were short.

I had no faith we would win, didn't follow the game and just waited till the final result came up. This slump is serious now...the team will find it hard to get their swagger back. Koeman has a lot of work to do. Essential we get some players in to bolster the squad.

The thin squad stems back to Cortese, were he didn't want us to sign players that would be back up etc. Not saying it is a bad idea in theory, but you still need to sign a fair few players.

And therefore it should have been addressed, if we replaced like for like then it would have needed additional players on top of those brought in to solve said situation. Only needed a few more players, could have opted for a short term loan until Rodriguez came back as well. Once the replacements were sorted it should have been addressed in my opinion
