Sheffield United vs Saints - League Cup QF Match Thread

The arsenal win in this competition seems a long time ago now. We are sinking faster than you know what .

 

Well we got what we deserved absolutely nothing ....

 

People are going a bit over the top.

 

Golden opportunity squandered, no point in beating Arse and Stoke away if you're not going to show up against Sheff Utd. I normally stay positive but it is starting to worry me a little bit.

 

This season is in real danger of being a real mediocre one.

I think Sheffield United deserve some credit, they were brilliant at stopping us play in the last 20 minutes after they scored but we should be able to beat a league one team playing at their very best. A front three of Mayuka, Long and Isgrove is not going to threaten many teams - you'd have a tough time persuading someone that Isgrove and Mayuka are anything better than average Championship players.

 

Tom, I agree. From the little we have seen of Reed, he looks a real driving force in midfield, exactly what we are missing, as everyone currently prefers a sideways or safe backwards pass - we need to give him a go

 

We had a similar run of six games in 2012/13, where we lost five and drew one. But back then, the draw was the second of the six games, not the first. (Although it was nearly six defeats in a row - that draw was at home to Fulham, where I recall Fonte scoring an injury time equaliser).

 

That was bad. Not taking into account any result or behind the scenes activity for the past year that was still just ******* woeful. As a quarter final you expect a good drumming from a motivated home side but after a while you expect the PL side to take control. That NEVER happened. We not once looked like scoring nor had any sort of redeeming quality going forward.

 

I'm sorry, but to perform like that when a semi final place is up for grabs is unforgivable. No excuses for it. We better take the FA Cup seriously.

 

How is it over the top?? When was the last time we lost 5 games in a row?

Again, sarcastically referring to a previous point I made years ago saying how possession means **** all.

 

You do realise that direct, strong teams from places like League One, do have a habit of taking higher league teams to their own turf and making them look daft, particularly in s**tty weather conditions.

Seen it before, will see it again. Yes, we were pretty bloody awful, but let's not lose our knickers about it.

Well done Sheffield United, saw us off in classic L1 vs Prem style.

 

Please. Let's not start sounding like Manc fans. We lost because we were second best. No confidence. No chances created to speak of. Koeman has to sort it out. We just need to support them Saturday.

Anyone not recognising this as a typical saints cup performance clearly hasn't been following them very long!

 

Liverpool and spuds both winning tomorrow will round this ****e week off nicely.

 

Out thought, out played, out classed by a league 1 side.

 

I don't think anyone is going over the top. This was an utterly shameful display. Forster is the only one who comes out of the game with any credit. Stupid challenges flying in. What was fonte thinking. What was gardos thinking, worst display I have seen i a very good while. I am struggling to see where the next point is going to come from.
