The one I'm most curious of is Bottas.. He was easily in the 2nd best car and did **** all with it. He bottled it in quali whenever it looked like pole was available, his starts are comparable to Webber's and his race pace is terrible. If Massa continues his form from the end of the season, he'll easily beat him next season. Button was only 9th? That's a bit of a joke. And Kvyat got 10th? Ahead of Vergne who had so much more bad luck than him and still pretty much tripled his points total? If it wasn't people who are supposed to know something, I'd say they were idiots.
To a point I'd agree with you there on Bottas. It was still an impressive season, but I imagine everyone was comparing it to the season before. He seems to have quite a few off days, but also Williams let him down with their teamwork strategy at times too. If both up their game then they could definitely win races in 2015.
There's certainly a few "Errrrrrr" placements in there. I think Ricciardo could quite fairly have been placed #1. Three wins, the only one to really give Merc a good fight and resoundingly beating a 4x champion. (Admittedly Vettel wasn't on the top of his game this year though.)
Harsh on Bottas...... but, there is some truth in what you said. There were flashes of genuine talent in a genuinely good car but it always seemed when push came to shove he suddenly became desperately average at the key defining moments. Similar to Magnussen (albeit kmag in a worse car and with the excuse of it being his rookie year). Flattered to deceive a touch i feel. Ricciardo in that Williams would have likely won at least 4 races IMO.
I thought Bottas was overrated before but I've had to eat my words this year. Yes, he needs to work on his starts, as does 3rd-placed Ricciardo, and he made some errors too - who didn't? - but it was how he drove back from these, and from team errors, that impressed me along with some brilliant moves race after race. Also, I'd argue that the Red Bull was the 2nd best car, not the Williams; just because Horner spent 2014 playing the victim because his engine wasn't quite as good, and just because the car didn't suit Vettel's needs doesn't mean it wasn't a very good car.
I agree with you there. Williams were the 2nd fastest car for most of the season but Bottas really did tail off towards the end of the year IMO. His careless drive in Australia also cost a certain podium I think, given the speed he showed. As for Vergne, that guy is talented and Kyvyat is a lucky boy.

Horner hates Winning. In fact seeing all those trophies angered him so much he chucked them in a nearby lake

Was it just me or did they focus solely on Mercedes and hardly talked about the others? I know the title suggests an all out review for the "Silver Arrows" but it is a F1 season review as well...
Saw a rumour Honda are demanding Mclaren change their paintjob to disassociate from Mercedes and the "silver arrows". itshappening.gif
