The chances of getting a good manager mid season are slim. If we are unable to get someone like De Boer ASAP, then I think we should keep Rodgers until the end of the season. I know it sounds defeatist but I think we need to re-focus. Rodgers should focus purely on playing the youngsters like Moreno, Manquillo, Can and Markovic. This team is young but with massive potential. Give them the minutes and allow them to develop. These players are our future - not Gerrard, Lucas, Skrtel, Johnson etc.
Lots of reasons..........We must be more patient with the new signings. IMO none of them are either hits or misses right now, they must be given at least one season to prove their worth or otherwise. Also, paying off BR's contract, finding a suitable replacement, the new man would want some existing players but not others, prob. another change in manager assistants,we just get into this merry-go-round managerial circus. We are supposed to be supporters ffs,not shouting for change just because we are struggling at the moment
But the new signings won't develop if they're being dropped at every opportunity for poor performing senior players. I do agree with the sentiment but persisting with poor managers leads to mediocrity. There are more teams that achieve success by changing their manager quickly than teams who persist with managers and rediscover form. We did the same with Souness and Evans - kept them for far too long. I'm not saying we should sack Rodgers for the sake of it - but if there is a better candidate available, then we need to be in for them .
BR certainly needs to make some big decisions (Johnson's first choice status,Gerrard playing to much, and giving younger recruits a fair chance etc.) But he doesn't become a poor manager all of a sudden,he deserves great credit for last season.I think the theory that it was all about Suarez is horseshit. The club made a managerial choice and should stick with it for now. Lets see where the second half of the season takes us. If we finish tenth and win **** all then we reconsider.
So we've gone around the full circle and come to the realisation that either we take a step backwards with Rafa or stick with Rodgers.
Love this, guy claims to have just joined but then states what people were talking about during the summer. IQ on a par with Phil Neville.
we are missing a natural finisher as has been said previously. balotelli, lambert & borini in hindsight have been wasteful purchases. i want a manager who buys ready made players like mancini/lvg etc, im sick of this bulls**t about buying 18 year olds and hoping they come good in 5 years. we'll never get anywhere doing that
Good point to remind us. Everything has gotta be done within reason. Buy (1) some mature ones in their prime, (2) some that will hit the prime in 1-2 years, (3) some that will hit it in 3-5 years. Whilst Rodgers goes and buys: (1) Lallana (2) Balotelli, Lovren (3) Can, Markovic, Moreno, Manquillo and a pensioner in Lambert Definitely skewed towards the third category, the hopeful punts, for the second straight year. Whereas the players brought in and near their primes have shown up & downs rather than steady progress in the preceding years -- risky. Ultimately, more so than tactical tinkering, this picture will be Rodgers downfall.
He deserves some credit but it is now obvious to all (who are willing to see) that he was NOT the main architect of the great season. Unless one is totally blinkered one has to accept that Suarez took the team and the players to a new level. He provided Gerrard an outlet for his passes. His industry all over the pitch covered the inadequacies of the midfield. Henderson had a good season. Sterling played well too. If it was the manager's work then why with one player gone does he fall apart ? Can he only work with Suarez or is it really Suarez who was showing him in a good light? The conclusion from this downturn in our fortunes is that Suarez importance to the team's function has been underestimated and the contribution of Rodgers has been vastly overestimated. No one becomes such a poor manager with the loss of a single player.
I would normally be patient with a manager and can accept when sometimes games don't go our way but the current team an performances are simply not acceptable. Rodgers is getting it so wrong and it's painful to watch. I think we should go for it if the right man became available I don't see Rodgers turning it around I'm concerned that we will lose to Bournemouth ffs!
am i right in assuming a lot of us have lost patience or given up with brendan? i know there is mixed opinions of wanting new manager in jan asap or wait until summer etc. just thinking that if we went on a decent run jan onwards and say ended up 5th or 6th, would that be good enough to persuade people he should be given longer or just cut our losses and be grateful we have at least europa football to attract other managers?
I've lost faith in him completely and don't see him turning it around. I won't be shocked if we lose the next game and don't see us having any chance against Arsenal. If we don't act soon the new managers job will be an even more difficult one.
