    By Graeme Bailey

A host of Premier League clubs have been put on alert after it emerged that Junior Hoilett is set to be allowed to leave QPR in January.

The Hoops are preparing for a busy transfer window, with Harry Redknapp keen to bolster his options at the turn of the year.

Goal understands Redknapp would ideally like to keep Hoilett, but the former Tottenham boss has been told that he has to let some of his fringe players leave.

One of those is set to be the former Blackburn winger with a number of clubs understood to be interested in acquiring his signature, despite his failure to pin down a regular starting spot in 2014-15.

Everton, Sunderland, West Ham, Southampton, Leicester and Swansea have all expressed an interest in landing the 24-year-old, though they would have to take on the vast majority of his sizeable wage packet.

Hoilett joined QPR from Blackburn in 2012.

Who could forget his contribution to our current position. "he scraps and he battles and he just wants it...." Shame it didn't translate so far this season

I can't help but think there will be others cut loose before him. I'm gonna take a wait and see stance with this one. Jan window approaching so lots of guess work from our highly esteemed journos to be vetted for BS.

Please no, one of our very few players who makes an effort to press the opposition. Always a positive impact when brought on. I'd hate to see him go. Surely he cannot be deemed a "fringe player". Taraabt, Mutch and (sadly) Faurlin surely must be ahead of Junior.

Harold is a fool for not playing Hoilett … some where in all this he is being allowed to spend more money as he has become famous for

Who's fault is it that he isn't performimg as well as we know he can … Harold doesn't play him enough

Hoilett in most games i have watched gets a shot on goal … isn't that the idea?

Take stock on what Harold is doing … it stinks

This squad is easily good enough to stay in this division … we have a wobbly dinosaur running things

If you make the massive assumption that this report is credible and believe the impressive list of clubs that allegedly think Junior could add value to them, you have to ask questions about why have QPR failed to see this value. His best spell with us was when McLaren was putting his arm round him and giving him encouragement. Presumably this has been delegated to Steve 'Pat on the Back, Job Done' Black now.

Let's face it, very few players have come to QPR over the last few years and become better. Hoilett is the sort of player I like to watch, which is presumably why he only plays a few minutes every fortnight.

Judging by the second to last sentence I think what they are talking about is a loan rather than a sell.

So long as any loan deal precludes him from playing against us, I'd be happy enough with that. He just hasn't really done it for us, especially this season.

For me, Hoilett has to be one of the most frustrating players to have pulled on the hoops in recent years (although admittedly there's been a few of those). As he showed in the playoff final he's still one of the few players who can get past his man and create a yard or two of space in dangerous areas. He has the skill and he has the pace to be one of the top players not only in the squad but in the league. The trouble is he beavers away with his head down and almost never looks up. Consequently he too often misses opportunities to make that last killer pass, or to have a shot at goal, and more often that not he gets caught in a dead end in no man's land and loses possession.

So near and yet so far.

Hoilett IMO won us the play off final and we all sing BZ

Wright Phillips and Taarabt (at exactly the same weight) beat Chelsea away from home

Harold however knows best and has purchased his way

Ps I am right up for a debate on here as I am still have a cob on having my flights cancelled this weekend … bring it on

The few times I've seen him he only looks a stretch away from another hamstring injury. Has been half the player he was with Blackburn.

Given the financial trouble we find/have got ourselves in to unfortunately we have to sell some players. Junior is probably one of our few saleable assets. I can't see any teams offering us many magic beans for SWP or our other fringe players.

He's only worth selling if you replace him with better. Crouch and/or Defoe would only come on lucrative, career extending contracts.

There is no reference to specific players, just "fringe" ones. Hoilett MIGHT be included with any other of around 10 non-regulars from the 25 and there is no reason to single him out except for the fact that he actually is tempting for other teams.

It really is a nothing article apart from saying "budget's tight so selling before buying likely" and I for one am happy with that approach - we only need 25 senior players and we only need to address a couple of key positions (CF, RB). Obviously Ale will free up one position anyway but, as I've said before, loans for the season or long term prospects (that might not contribute too much in the next six months) are my ideal.

As mentioned above, any releases should only be done if we can definitely secure improved quality (that might actually get games).

With everything coming out of the club about how good the squad morale and unity is, this next window better not turn into another Arry wheeling-and-dealing frenzy or I might just flip.

You're right that Hoilett appears to be in one of HR's blind spots. There have been so many games this season where we have been crying out for more (actually any) pace and if Hoilett has any strength this would be it of course. He surely must have been worth a throw of the dice on more occasions.

Maybe his contract is running out so now would be a good time to sell.

selling Hoilett would be utterly bonkers - especially at this stage of the season.

He's a better player than Phillips IMO.
