The problem with playing Aluko is that he often comes back into the midfield and then likes to run at the defence how ever i feel we need a striker to go with Jelavic who is going to play off the shoulder of the last man so for that reason Hernandez would play for me

I'd go with this but have Quinny starting in place of Meyler.

Aluko has been upfront with jelavic for roughly 7 games this season and between them.scored 0 goals, aluko is suited to a midfield role and putting him upfront is just a waste! Also jelavic on his own will never work, he can't make it stick....i actually think hernandez is more effective than jela as a sole striker but im talking small margins

    Rosie Chester Davies Brady
    ---Livermore - Meyler -----
    Elmo------Quinn---Robertson
    -----------Abel-------------

I like the idea of this formation - with Quinn in a role where he is central and can play some passes through the centre.

I'm indifferent on the exact nature of the wings. Could have Elmo RB and Aluko in that more attacking role. Could do any combo of Brady/Rob. Also could have Ramirez somewhere in there.

But that formation, with Quinn in the middle (not on the wing, where he is capable, but doesn't fulfill his potential), also Meyler in the middle if you are going to play him. I really think we could actually finally use some of the attacking potential in this team.

    Seriously?

    Where is Jelavic?

Have I missed an email about "Underestimate Jelavic Monday" or something?

It was no more of a stamp than the one on Aluko by Mikal.Poor referees have cost us this season.

Jelavic has to start every game when fit, for me he might make a good captain too as he leads by example from the front

    Right formation - wrong personnel.

    Elmo Chester Davies Robertson
    ------Livermore - Quinn-------------
    ---Aluko----Ramirez---Hernandez---
    -------------Jelavic--------------------

Attacking line-up with Elmo and Robertson providing width and Livermore/Quinn providing defensive cover when fullbacks are forward.

But it's Swansea next game - two very quick wide players - so I expect 3-5-2

Very strange as they definitely said 3 games not 4, they must have got it wrong.

EDIT: Yes you are right it has been amended to 4.

    So no appeal then???

We lose such an influential player as Tom (when on form) for 4 games and Cahill gets nothing except ridicule?

Appeals are for very clearly wrong decisions. If we appealed this one, the FA would slap another game on for wasting their time.

Yes that is about it, doesn't seem fair really, but Tom should have known better.

I'd be on board with that.

Unsure exactly how Quinn/Ramirez would work, they would need to share defensive duties probably, whilst also both making an impact attacking. (I chose Meyler and Quinn just because it is a little clearer how their roles are divided).

But yeah, I like the formation, and I like Quinn and Ramirez in the middle - players who can pass and be a threat through the centre. The wings don't bother me so much, we have good players on the wings - but they are stifled at the moment because opposing teams don't have to worry about us down the centre. If we can have Ramirez and Quinn with the ball in the opposing teams half, it will stretch and worry teams a lot more than Huddlestone passing the ball to a full back in our own half.

There's only one player that can replace Tom Huddlestone and that's Gaston Ramirez. We will desperately need his pass completion stats.

Play him with Cyril and Mails to do the donkey work and we will not notice Thudd's absence.

Back to Curtis, Chezz and Bruce (perfect to combat Bony's fat arse) as a back 3.

I'd drop Robertson for now as I think we will need Rosie's positional ability to combat Dyer.

This with Jella and Abel up top would be the best we can field at the moment.

All this being said I do wonder how far off we are from Bruce throwing a Hail Mary in there somewhere, like playing Brady as number 10 for example; we need a minimum of 6 points from the next 3 games.

Odd the way the OWS did it. Technically it's one for the yellow cards and three for the red. No point appealling.
