I go to most home games and am sick of hearing visiting supporters singing are we playing in a library. The atmosphere is as flat as a japs face for most of the games. Is it the tactics that Gus plays that deny"s us of many get off your seat moments which would get the crowd going or is it the lack of flare and pacey players.
The South stand are doing our part. Thought the Atmos was much better than the Chelsea game. West Ham took good support and sang loud, maybe the loudest we've had this season, but we engaged in a back and forth, North, east and west stands need to pull their finger out imo.
I thought even the South Stand was pretty quiet apart from a few in the middle who tried their best..The atmosphere at every home game apart from the Chelsea game has been ****e, but the last two against Man City and West Ham have been the worst..
The atmosphere was class against Chelsea but thats about it. like I said on the other thread it's poyet style of play & if we being honest we haven't got a player like Bolasie who would get fans off there feet.
Maybe if the rest of the ground got off their lazy arses and got behind the team it would be better. I stand for ninety minutes, sing, clap and jump. I can see the rest of the ground who don't even rise to their feet when we're attacking. Ground full of passionless lazy ****s.
Have to disagree with you there Bri. Yes the South Stand did their bit, they generally do. I thought v Chelsea it was a cracking atmosphere. I was in the west stand near the SW corner. Yesterday I was in the west stand again, right on the halfway line in row two & it was as flat as ****. Fair play to the hammers like, they were in good voice. Although I almost pissed myself when they started calling Gomez a dirty Northern bastard, lol.
The SoL atmosphere has been dower long before Gus. That's a pathetic excuse. it's because lazy so called supports can't be arsed and take offence to the people who can. Tees will back me up. He's recently experienced abuse for singing. It's not Poyet's football, IT'S OUR FANS
I was in the southwest Corner and got mucky looks for making noise. It's only when I move from the south stand I experience ****ers. If they joined in instead of giving me mucky looks it would have improved the atmosphere.
I sit in the South East Corner and try my bloody hardest to get the atmosphere going around me, ably supported by my son, the bloke and his son who sit to my left, and a couple of lads who sit directly in front of us ..We were fighting a losing battle for most of yesterday..
The football at Sunderland has been dower for ayes & I'm surprsie we get over 40,000 all the time. I agree with you about people giving you dirty looks when you trying to get behind our team.
I used to sing for 90 minutes but now, due to gigging 3 times a week, I can't do it for the simple fact I have to be disciplined. I wish I could and u certainly do at midweek games and if I'm not gigging but sadly can't otherwise
I agree. Can accept why we play this way against the likes of Chelsea, Man City etc., but we should be setting up to win against West Ham, who I thought were no better than average yesterday. Gus needs to realise that fans like to see their team trying to win, especially at home, and should be working on a strategy on a game by game basis depending on the opposition. This blinkered approach of one size fits all is not working and can be dreadful to watch week after week. No wonder the atmosphere is almost non-existent. After all, football is supposed to be entertainment and a distraction from the everyday normality of life. The West Ham game was very poor and even the visiting fans had gone quiet long before the end.
Will we ever experience anything like that night again? Never seen a team so visibly intimidated by the crowd before or since. The result was never in doubt from the moment the teams left the changing room and took to the field. City simply were frightened to death and I cannot recall even one of their star players managing to cope with the atmosphere and passion shown by Sunderland supporters both throughout the match and long before the game started.
Couldn't agree move pal. I think Poyet hasn't got the ability to change tactics or formation for the different styles we come up against. hopefully he learns quick.
the atmosphere against cardiff was the best i've witnessed at the sol (or was it west brom? when the great escape was done), total unison, so it can be achieved, the fans need something to cheer tbh and they will get behind the lads vocally, its a choice, you are not obliged to chant but when the mood takes it is inside everyone inside the ground, i've seen it and heard it so it can happen again. There is alot of tension atm, will there be another relegation battle? will there not? thats the mood of the sol atm, rightly or wrongly, turning up and paying your money is more important that chanting tbh. I would consider moving the away fans again me
i would try and devise a plan to go on supply and demand, not sure how it would work, but i wouldnt give them the south stand as it looks **** when a team dont bring any support, maybe a section of the premier concourse, its rarely full and would move them closer to the vocal areas, towards the south
