Aluko should be playing well when you have a £10M player not doing his bit off the ball and Bruce gives you a chance which could well be your last you got to take it. Aluko has done well, bad injuries don't just clear up he needs matches and lucky for him he has a chance and he is taking it.
Geeze, watching it live then the three or four replays they showed must have all been wrong. Takes the ball and taps it forward to run forward, then taps it away from himself as Cahill comes sliding in and gets collected.
Ask Nick Proschwitz maybe he knows. Getting up to match fitness, Building up strength. Adapting to English football and so on and on
I predicted us to lose 4-1, so, in the circumstances, I believe a battle-weary Chelsea did have an effect. But my point was not about the result it was about in-form players taking a grasp of the nettle and shining by winning the odd battle. Football is a team game, but I look to individuals making the most of their role and rising to quality opposition - I thought Davies did that, even though I have been critical of him of late (he deserved it) and Livermore showed that we still have an engine room and Chelseas stars were not stopping him. Very honourable mentions for Aluko - a long way to go, but a definite improvement and Alex Bruce who showed he has something to offer, along with the odd mistake. It was just a pity a really poor referee made us look worse than we were, or Chelsea better than they were. We have to play with the players we have, try some constructive discussion around them for a change, as your comments about Jelavic are reluctant and unnecessary only a player who is outstanding in contribution and attitude - his lack of goals is down to the manager.
Have not been on here much recently and wondered if everyone would be down and expecting relegation. Glad to see that's not the case and there is hope that we can come good again.
I think both of your views are out of kilter; he simply got tackled, badly, but was moving forward with purpose and pace - he wasn't the villain nor was he that smart, as he didn't need to be, the tackle was coming all day long.
Better idea is express your point of view and don't bring the Poodle **** on here with the trolls it encourages; it's been one of the better discussion threads, a rare beast on here these days.
Not out of kilter at all. His first touch was piss poor. He knocked it way too far away from himself. What comes after is immaterial. It was a **** first touch.
Bloody hell, Chazz, that is more than a tad harsh. Aluko was already running up in support of a quick release from Hudds (a rare one these days), the ball was headed almost directly back by the their player, but he was intending it for his own player running on, further away. The ball bounced high to Aluko's left and he did well to collect it, as he pulled it into his line of run and got a touch on it before the deliberately poor tackle came in. He neither deliberately tapped it off to draw the tackle, nor was it poor control, it was good in the circumstances. Just because it might not be as tight as we would love to see, it does not mean the touch was ****e, it was okay, he got first touch, the opposition got a foul in to deal with it. Why so hyper-critical?
Hmmm, that's why you've come on then. Got anything to say about the game, the £10m signing or football in general?
No, his lack of goals is because he is being well held at this level - nothing to do with the Manager. We have scored 2 goals in eight games. Say what you like but that is a worry. I have said many times on these boards that if you are playing Poker and have been dealt a 2 of spades, a 3 of diamonds, a 5 of hearts, a 7 of clubs and a 9 of spades no amount of shuffling them will get you a winning hand. I forecast a 4-0 defeat so was on the same wavelength as your good self. The injuries to key players we have suffered has had a bearing on most of our results but we need to improve up front which means we will have to bring in new 'strikers' as what we have are proving inadequate at this level. I don't deny that every player is giving 110% and I would be cheering them all on if I was at the game regardless but our position in the league is indicative that something serious needs to be done. How anyone can say that Steve Bruce can't see this is beyond me. He is a professional Football Club Manager and can see that we need to improve. The options are to 'offload' who we can, beg Mr Allam for more money and/or bring in new players.
I keep saying it, but he really is too good for us. I wouldn't blame him if he wanted out, it must be frustrating working your nuts off every week to not be rewarded with any service. He really does. The reason he doesn't get picked is he's been absolute **** in his last 5 or 6 games. The similarities between Proschwitz and Hernandez are worrying.
