Rene: desperate to stay in the public eye and get another manager job. Hoping that talking about United will make people forget his less than spectacular post United managerial career.

Phelan: desperate to be considered as more than just Fergie's lap dog.

Scholes: desperate to be seen as unbiased.

Neville: most of what he says is fair.

On neville. Yes, unless its about united. Then what you said about scholes applies.

They should all f** off. They've all be great for the club, but the Ferguson era is over and every shred of it should be removed. Starting complete afresh.

UIR stop reading the Fail. Meulensteen probably did an interview with the Fail journo about Gardening or something and they managed to interpret what he said as in that article<laugh>

Neville and Scholes have a right to bitch they love the club and were there at its zenith, they might as well start any negative comments about the current United with "When I was there..." :) Fergie had certain standards, it's brushed off on everyone who's worked under him it seems.

No. Neville talks absolute ****e. Barely said a bad word about us under moyes and peddled the 'british is best' bullshit last season. This season hes gone full ******.

Hes a good pundit but hes trying way to hard to be controversial.

I have no doubt fergie almost killed him after his latest outburt of bullshit. He wasnt wrong in what he said but you just dont say it. Same with scholes and the city shiny new acadamy comments.

Both of those players have played in worse games for united than last Monday while both came through our apparently out of date acadamy.

When Schmeichel said we should aspire to be like city, he was rightly crucified. no difference here.

They should all just shut up. When roy keane is praising the club more then you know its time to shut the **** up.

Do you not see it as more of an agenda from the media?
During fergusons reign they were shackled and couldn't print anything negative for fear of the news supply line being severed.
Moyes reign back pages looked after themselves so now van gaal is there and not obviously a target yet they are choosing the negativity through former players as the area to concentrate on
All a bit sad,Utd were bound to have a few lean years when Ferguson retired,it's not really newsworthy
If van gaal gets top 4 that's ahead of schedule I'd have thought

Good point. Weve become an easy target just now. Nothing wrong with that of course but a little tiresome.

We dont need heaps of praise but a little balanced commentary regarding our climb back up from the depths of moyes. It makes the already dim looking media look even dimmer.

    Dim and dimmer.

Oh and they will come to learn van gaal is equally as brutal as fergie regarding the media.

Yes. Now run along and find me a single shred of evidence where neville is critical of england or england players. Hes also employed by england and as you would expect, he keeps it shut when it comes to them.

Loves a cheap dig at the club that made him though. Lazy, cheap hack attitude.

It would be an acceptable season. A good season would be beyond expectations.

He can't do pundit work on England though can he, seeing as he's on the bench!?!?

I've not got an issue with anything Scholes or Neville have said to be honest. Which is what they're being, honest.

You've got a point on the former coaches though, they've clearly got a little axe to grind having been dumped by Moyes. He just wants to be heard, Best ignored really.

Phelan has been ok though for the most part.

Neville does however shy away from any criticism of english players during the premier leagues games which is what i was getting at. Sorry i wasnt clearer.

Nevilles better than a cheap dig though. We all know it. He is capable of far more balanced opinions.

Scholes, he just talks nonsense. Hes bigging up citys acadamy yet its done absolutely nothing while uniteds has and continues to do so.

Both should think before they speak.
