At what point does The New One become a value punt? I think 4/7 is massive and worth a right good bet.
I'd say depends on the amount you are staking to make it any value and at that sort of price it would have to be a few wheelbarrows to make it worth while. But on the flip side of that I'd say that if you have that sort of money to gamble with then why bother coz where's the fun in winning if money means little to you. So to answer your question Bob, I don't know when it becomes value ha ha!
Surely Saturday is all about Mad Moose?! At 100/1 I'm willing to part with a few quid eway. At 4/7 I think the TNO represents a little value Bob. However, shorter priced horses have been beaten in the past and I've never been keen on odds on shots, even if this one only needs to turn up to win. A short price also but one that represents better value in my opinion is Blaklion on around the 5/4 mark. Think that one is worth a decent bet and will be burdened by some of my hard earned. Good luck if you do wade in on TNO.
No...Saturday is all about HARRISTOWN fellas. Christmas has come early as you can have 5/1. No ifs or buts or even maybes, he wins tomorrow! Better off with Beau Lake for a defeat in what really was his seasonal debut. The 5lb claimer is great value and the horse is in rude health. Fill your boots gentlemen! HARRISTOWN 5/1 Lingfield 2.05
1 50 Southwell - Viva Verglas - 14/1 Graham Gibbons only ride @ Southwell, looks interesting, on a very lenient mark and makes fibresand debut Doubling it up with Money Team @ 10s in the 2nd at wolves
Thanks for the early heads up Stick and all the best with Harristown the Don. Ran a blinder lto conceding shed fulls of weight to the winner. I've burdened it with some of my dough though which may be a curse. The other Longsden horse I'm interested in is Killalla Quay over at Doncaster. I see a bit of money has already come in for him, any view from the stable?
Im really not a fan of putting up horses at short prices but with the small fields and a few quality horses running thats what im left with unfortunately. 12.15 Cheltenham - Hargam - Expected odds on but receives 7lbs from the Pipe horse. This horse is expected to take high order in the Juvenile fields and travelled like a class act before being out pointed by another good and experienced horse. 12.50 Cheltenham - Champagne West - Expect a massive R4 once Virak is pulled unfortuantely. Beat Colour Squadron in a race with half the fences missed. Jumped sweetly on the fences that stood and the step up in trip is sure to suit. 2.35 Cheltenham - Blacklion - Made the donkey work and set up the race perfectly for Parlour Games over the shorter trip LTO. Can make all if required but may get a sweet tow into the race from Parish Business and the stepup to 3m looks ideal again. 3.10 Cheltenham - The New One - Giving weight away to all but is nearly a stone better than every horse in opposition, loves it round Cheltenham and has an extra furlong today which will suit. 3.45 Cheltenham - Lac Fontana - Hard race to call, there is little between the selection and Volnay De Thaix through the Aintree run but the selection loves it round Cheltenham and has recorded 3 of his 4 wins here. Rock on Ruby can never be judged on seasonal reappearance but does appear to be regressing with age as shown in his hurdles rating and im hoping the selection can improve past him. Other Cheltenham picks - I expect Solar Impulse to go in again, the formlines looks absolutely solid and him and LTO winner Monetaire could be well ahead of the handicapper. Would happily watch Caid Du Berlais win again but too short at current price. Has plenty of scope to improve but my each way pennies will go to Niceonefrankie.
Chel 2.00 Barrakilla (4 win) Darna (3 win) Edgardo Sol (2 win) all @ bfsp 6 x Tote Exactas @ 1 on the above three Total of 15 staked
3.45 Cheltenham ROCK ON RUBY 7/4 The 2012 Champion Hurdler and 2013 runner up gave 13lb (4L defeat) and 12lb (three quarter length defeat) when 3rd behind Purple Bay and Bertimont respectively. He gave FORGOTTEN VOICE 22lb and a neck beating. Ruby is still a mighty fine hurdler and 2 and a half miles is his trip. He will strip much fitter for reappearance and should put these to the sword. To me, this is the equivalent to the late OSCAR WHISKY being 7/4 in 2 and a half mile hurdle races. A massive price really. Fingers crossed
Sorry to go against u toppy but My mate has just text me had a long chat with Hughie Morrison at Cheltenham he likes the look of Brother Brian in the lucky last @ Cheltenham, world hurdle horse he feels he should be currently 11/1 but won't price is already being eaten up
Tramore 155 - The bold becky @ 10/30 Tramore 230 - Company Coming is fancied @2/1 Tramore 120 - Speed Demon is fancied. @ 2/1 GL
Done a small stakes Lucky 31 win only bet (so expect lots of seconds and thirds) to add a bit of interest today: 12.15 Chelt Karezak 2.00 Chelt Caid Du Berlais 2.05 Ling Harristown 3.10 Chelt The New One 3.45 Chelt Rock On Ruby
Drifting like the proverbial barge on Betfair just got 9/1 for the Win & 3/1 for a Place Good Luck to The Don & Yerself
The 'Gold Cup' at Cheltenham has a rather fancy sponsor this afternoon - Caspian Caviar. Can't say I've ever tried the stuff, not even sure how it is taken, maybe smeared over scrambled eggs on toast perhaps? Can't see how it could be a better enhancer of said dish than good ol HP and at £75 per 50 grammes the sponsors are hardly giving it away. The standard of entry doesn't really match the sponsorship branding and falls short of the quality of some of the fields that contest events at Aintree sponsored by the more down to earth Matalan and John Smiths. Anyway enough of all that tosh, Workbench ew for me at 22/1. Wide open heat and this one is a consistent sort, 2/2 at the distance but proved he can stay further in the Badger Ales. Skelton is already no stranger to big Saturday pots either. Good luck all.
SEA WALL 1255 lingfield is there to win today miracle cure won't go on the ground so 15/8-2/1 is great price GL if you play
