I know there's a thread somewhere but at work so can't be arsed to find it.

Is it true he has had a set back? Big big blow if so, and you start to worry if he will ever recover. It just seems to have gone a bit quiet regarding his return with no date given.

Does anyone on here know if it's true about the set back? and how bad it is?

Think he had another op to clean his knee out but that was a while back. Last I read/heard he was on course to be back in full training early in Jan?

It may not be anything new. I beleive he had to have some fluid removed from the knee a few weeks ago. Hopefully RK was talking about this when he described the set back and the press have ran with it.

Would be great to have him back for January when Mane goes to the ACN.

I think he's due to return in January. As far as I know it wasn't a set back per se because he was ahead of schedule ahyways. So before the 'set back' he was meant to be back for December (but originally was meant to be back for January) but since said 'set back' he's gone back to being due in January. :)

It was a real shame when he got injured as he was playing great.

I'm pretty sure that after all the time and energy by both the club and player to get j rod fit again he wont be sold.

We are short of striker options and he was scoring goals. Be interested to see how he fits in with RK's plans.

There is zero point to rushing his recovery/putting a date on his return. If that means he will be back a few weeks after schedule then so be it

After Jay became injured, the initial prognosis was a return in October, maybe November. All through his reasonably well publicised recovery it was being put about that he was ahead of schedule. Then things were almost certainly not 100%, and Jay had an inspection/clean up operation in November. That needs to heal properly too. As I've said a few weeks ago on this, Saints can't take the slightest chance with a £25M asset. He'll be ready when he's ready. Don't be surprised if he doesn't play for quite some while, possibly even not this season. That also ties in with Koeman's thoughts about acquiring at least a couple of high quality players in January. I happen to think he's right as well. Saints can't come this close and leave things to chance. It's a springboard to take-off.

He's just started using his Facebook account again. His first post was something along the lines of "Back soon etc etc".

Yes, he's also said the same on Twitter. We are informed that this couldn't possibly be himself as it is reporting good news. :)

Yeah we definitely shouldn't rush him back. Would be nice if it did come around the time of ACON though. It's crazy to think we're 5th without last years top scorer.
