    According to the BBC website.

    Thoughts?

I think Keiran Gibbs should be good enough to step up and replace him but who will be backup to Gibbs?

Do you think Wenger should use the money from the sale of Clichy to strengthen the left back position, to strengthen other areas of the team or even just to pay off any remaining debt from the building on the Emirates? (If you have any remaining debts that is, I am unsure).

Nope Gibbs has never played RB. He also looks too injury prone and not good enough to be Clichy's replacement as well.

    now on arsenal.com

don't think gibbs will be left on his own. and he is left footed so i don't know why he would be a right back... he's not one of the da silva twins...

or maybe he will bring back traore or pedro botelho and play those alongside gibbs, interchanging between 2 of them throughout the season. that seems the thing that wenger would have done the past few years, but he might have changed...

We definitely need to buy another LB in my opinion and one who is better than Clichy ideally. Clichy showed good promise in the couple of seasons after Cole left and was on his way to displace Evra in the national team, but he's never really regained that form. In fact the last couple of seasons, Clichy has been a bit of a liability in our defence.

Leighton Baines would be my choice for a replacement. Good LB, great cross and can hit a wicked free kick too <ok>

I agree with you to a degree. It is definetly money motivated, however you can't hide from the fact that whilst they aren't a bigger club than you currently I'd say they have a better of winning things over Arsenal forthe next few years.

Footballers sicken me, no loyalty at all and they just go where the money is.

    Blimey, I agree with a spud :1980_boogie_down:

I'm not as worried as most of you and think that with the extra games Gibbs and maybe even Traore could step up. I havent seen anything of Traore last year so dont know how he looked. Anyone care to enlighten me?

We also have Eboue and Vermaelen who can play there.

Mancini will coach him around, also there's a defensive ethic to our team that will protect Clichy more than he got at Arsenal over past two seasons.

If you remember when Clichy had his best seasons at Arsenal he had Flamini and the Gilberto in front of him - at city he'll have yaya and DeJong protecting him.

Clichy will be amazing at City i bet ya!

he's only been **** for us since our change of formation and his lack of protection infront

With city, and there defensive set up he'll shine

I'm not bothered - so its a goodbye from me. However, AW must get the cheque book out now, not end of month.
    Waiting for bargain basement again?

Completely agree, a big signing would give everyone a lift and send out the right message.
