Yep, Fergie admitted he had never seen him play, he took a cheap punt on the word of a much trusted CQ.

Experienced doesn't have to be in terms of age.

Coutinho was only 20 when he joined but he had the xperience of having how nation hype him up as some wonderkid, he had experience of playing for a top team in Italy, he played in Champions League and La Liga.

I want players who can play under the pressures that come with a big club.

I don't want us to be looking at mid table PL players like the dross we bought from Soton. I want players who truly understand the big stage and expectations.

Then who do you want to sign?

Man U - no player will join us due to rivalry.
    Arsenal:
Ozil - wouldn't join, on real high wages
Sanchez - tried to sign but said no
Koscienely - maybe but would he imporve the defence?
Scenzney - not gonna get us next level
    Walcott - cost too much

    Chelsea
Whole team is a no, we could enquire abiut Schurrle and Cech but Mourinho would never sell

Barca: maybe Mascherano if he was feeling sentimental

    Real Madrid: nope

PSG: Lavezzi or Cavani could be seen as realistic but wages would be rediculous

Bayern: Dante? Shaqiri has done nothing to prove his worth. No one else

Juve: Italian players are very loyal to the club and Tevez/Pogba wouldn't join

Athletico Madrid: Koke would never join but we could get a center back or Juanfran

So from the 'top teams' as you said, might have a chance with 3 or 4 players, two of them are center backs and ones a full back.

People need to actually realise where we are as a club and teams around us.

I think lfc are in no fn position to bleat about wages as they simply must hand over a huge wage to whomever they sign

FFs let's wake up here, bantering with mancs over falcao and rooneys wages is one thing but actually believing less than 100k gets you more than a badontelly? C'mon guys we must buy big

Fabien Scharr who played for Basel - his contract is running out and he'll be available for not much money. Won league titles and has CL experience.

    Lacazette plays for Lyon

    Shaqiri.

    Pierre Emerick Aubagyameng

Players at smaller clubs - Kevin Trapp, Volland, Firmino

There is so much talent out.

This is true. Look at the gems who have emerged this season. Valencia and sakho at West Ham, pelle and tadic at Southampton and in previous seasons players like evertons mareilles didn't cost much either. It's out there we just need to pick better. You can't tell me sakho and Valencia would have chosen the hammers over us.
On top of that players like Bertrand, wanyama ,ericksen etc who were rubbished by some on here have turned into good signings. Wanyama ESP is a player who would improve us no end.

We've all said we could do with someone like Wanyama who is big and powerful in that central midfield, closest we have is Can, but Rodgers doesn't like that type of player. He prefers technicians rather than muscle.

£16m on Balotelli when Bony would have been a better bet, let alone Berahino - God knows, he'd cost us another £10m on that now, if W Brom would even sell. Thing is, we knew we were losing Suarez in June and had no plan B (bar Lambert, no pun intended) if Sanchez turned us down. Utterly illogical, and most people said so back in the summer, so this isn't hindsight.

That said, if we got Berahino and Shaqiri in jan, and we aren't 12-15 points off fourth place by then, we could still at least make a fist of it. Big ifs though, and I'm not optimistic.

I want us to aim better than Bony and Berahino.

It's time for us to sign players who can deliver week in week out for at least 18 months. We signed the likes of Lallana and Lovren on the back of a decent few months last season. We keep getting burnt by these mid table players in the PL. Our squad is full of them.

    Time to show some ambition

Agreed. We seem to keep signing the flavour of the month players (or Flavour of the half season).
Carroll, Adam, Lallana, Lovren, Enrique, Mignolet all these had impressive half season to a full season in the PL and were hyped up by the media, suddenly we were willing to spend money on them, some of them for big money.

For £24m I'd want better than Lallana.

Of course people will now say its not Lallana's fault the price, no its not its the clubs for not walking away on a player worth no more than £15m. Its ridiculous to think of all the players we walked away from over the years cause the price was a little too high, yet when it comes to these mid table players we go crazy.

    Ok rant over.

Last point. We're not going to buy anyone in the Jan window, the wasted summer money has seen to that. FSG are going to let BR die by his summer splurge on squad (at best) players

Wigan to buy balotelli... Dave whelan and Mackay seem to have a lot in common with super Mario

Well we thought (or at least Rodgers did) that Lallana markovics lovren balotelli were those gems.

But talking of January signings and those top players willing to join us if we had a chance of a CL place. We won't have a prayer if we lose on Sunday. I can't see us bridging a gap of 10 points with a team with some momentum to clinch that 4th place.

If Rodgers picks the right players and plays an aggressive formation, we will win.

Problem is, there is no sign he will change anything.
