I spoke with Oskar and his Mum today. They are obviously aware of what we are doing and are very appreciative.
A lovely evening. Mrs Pycroft was there with some good friends. Really well organised and around £400+ raised, with some individual acts of real generosity. Talking with Mrs Pycroft it's clear there are many more events planned, including a bucket collection at our home game v Torquay.
As P49 says a good total raised last night, which with Xmas coming up i think is pretty good. Myself and Pirate 49 were privileged to be in the same team as Lizzie Pycroft (Oskars mum) and two other City fans....and between us we came second!!! The City lad won the Rovers Signed Shirt and Rovers Tickets!!! Which actually worked well because his father is a Gashead and that sorted Christmas presents! Well done to the winning team who immediately put their winnings into Oskars pot. There was some fantastic generosity shown last night as 49 said, and we have to thank Bristol Rovers Supporters Club, Fans Director Brian Seymour-Smith, David and Angela Thomas and our Quizmaster Phil Draper who organised this superbly, plus big thanks to Young Rovers players Jake Gosling & Jamie Lucas for taking their time to support the night. Top lads. I'm sure much more will be added to the total at the New Years Day bucket collection. I think Lizzie said they are up round the half way point now in their quest to get Oskar his much needed operation which is great and she thanks everyone for all their kind donations and help. As always P49, a pleasure to enjoy your company and knowledge.
I've been on the Just Giving website today - great to see lots's of donations from Rovers fans https://www.justgiving.com/Oskar-70 We are divided by our football rivalry, but good to see Bristol can unite when it matters. Merry Christmas to all on this Board
I would just like to add my best wishes to all the gasheads that have so generously given to young Oskars appeal. There are times like these where our divisions certainly should be forgotten. Jon, your efforts are particularly appreciated and I wish I would have seen your quiz night details sooner as I would have loved to have come along and whipped your arses.
This has nothing to do with Rovers or City. It's all about Bristol folk rallying around to support one of their own!! A very unfortunate hand of cards dealt to a small boy.
Yeah but don't be treating him too well when he comes along for one of your home games, we don't want him changing allegiances do we..
