    So, The EL it is.

A chance to win it and get back into the CL and add a trophy to the cabinet as well a increase our European co-efficient.

Let's be honest, unless something drastic happens, 4th place is a long way off and even then, I wouldn't trust us to win in a 2 legged qualifier.

I hope we take the EL seriously as all other clubs apart from the English do. English think we're so much better than it but we really aren't. I'd rather we tried to win that and finished 7th

One thing that has puzzled me all season ( apart from our **** defending, **** midfield and why Johnson keeps getting selected) is our inability to shoot. Having watched some of the goals scored in Europe tonight our shooting is just awful. Apart from a couple of gerrard free kicks when was the last time we scored from outside the box?
Our shooting is wayward and ,when we get it on target, just so weak. Or ,as in ballotellis case ,both

Manager isn't the blame for me. If the players struggle to get themselves motivated got a must win game then they shouldn't be at Liverpool. Massive miss was Kolo but hopefully they means Sakho can play as Lovren still looked terrible.

Line up was cautious but misplacing passes and not even bothering is all down to the players.

Any strikers would have been a help. I read what you wrote earlier and can't fault it tbh (a great goalie helps too). I still think your defensive weaknesses will be your achilles heal in the league. Would have been far easier to shore up 30+ goals leaked from last season rather than trying to replace 30+ goals from a rare talent like Suarez.

Re: Basel, I was watching and thinking in that first half, bloody hell their one touch passing is fcking excellent. The one silver lining is that we probably won't be as good as that on Sunday and you did enough tonight (Markovic in particular) to show you could get a result.

But you could say we'd have conceded even more without Suarez last year as teams wouldn't have been as scared when playing us and attacked us even more, exposing our defence (which is exactly what's happening now).

Barcelona have never had a great defence in the last 6/7 years but they're so good going forward, teams are afraid to attack them and put that defence under any kind of pressure.

On the Day, Basel deserved to win that game, lucky to get a result if you ask me!
We were poor to down right abysmal for the first 45mins and freekick aside were shabby at best in the second.
Over the 6 games, our position in that mini league was a fair reflection on our standing and agree with others, Ludagrets were unlucky to have lost against us!
    In short fair result.
Lazor's sending off was fair too, was no need to do what he did, the fact that he flung his arm back and gave the ref a decision to make was no one but his fault, shame really, came on and looked half decent!

On a positive note, we won the second half <doh>

Mate I haven't checked but I don't think Barca conceded 50+ goals in the league. Also think that's really unfair Bis, they have always been defensively good. They revived the art of pressing and winning the ball all over the pitch but particularly in midfield. Also, Puyol, Masch, Pique and recently Alba, have been brilliant. For Liverpool, Suarez masked the goals being shipped last last season and now it's being exposed.

No, not in the extreme, but it comes back to the old "the opposition can't score if you have the ball" and "best form of defence is attack as well"...

Just my point being that it wasn't just a case of shoring up the defence by 30 goals rather than replace Suarez's 30 as it's not as simple a that.

Ahem... He bought most of em.... Not all obviously but he has bought 23 players and his best side still contain Johnson and relies on the saddest Gerrard ever to dig out a set piece to get a draw oh and not to mention Lucas.... Skertl.... Enrique.... Henderson.... Fact is 3 years later the manager is responsible especially for having no forwards

Sturridge and Balotelli are injured so if you wanna find a team where their third striker is still great than go ahead because we don't have that luxury.

Rodgers tries to tighten the back and gets put down for not scoring against Sunderland. Plays too attacking and gets put down for our defence being terrible, the guy can't win with a lot of people on here.

He may of bought the players but at the end of the day it's a players job to be motivated to play, a manager can give a good pre match chat to get them fired but as a player that shouldn't be something needed.

The players are either living in the past or not good enough, not rodgers fault.

I am ashamed of the players who wore my clubs shirt this evening. Perhaps the only thing that I demand of players wearing LFC Red is to try and keep on trying. As the banner says NEVER NEVER NEVER GIVE UP. For 80 minutes tonight I saw 11 players in red going through the motion and none of them showing that it hurt in any way!

Now we can maybe exempt Markovic. Whilst he should never have been sent off, he should never have put himself in that position! We lacked skill on the ball, we lacked pace, we lacked any shooting prowess, we lacked the ability to pass accurately. But more importantly we lacked the commitment to the cause so that we could overcome all of those inadequacies by sheer will.

Off the pitch, what the hell is going on? We had no clear strategy. Their players were fitter than ours! They could shoot!!

I will always love LFC but I am truly ashamed of what I am seeing at Anfield.

    Well put Foredeck.

We have well and truly fallen off the rails.

From the basics like strategy, all the way down.

We lost (drew) because of Rodgers.

The line up and tactics were disgraceful. Spent over £200m in his reign and he's still playing Skrtel, Lucas, Johnson, Enrique, Gerrard.

Anyone who rates Lambert needs their head testing - he's a garbage player who doesn't dersve to be at this club. It's amazing what happens when you take off that lump and push sterling higher up the pitch - speed frightens defenders!!

Rodgers wants to persist with the same **** tactics and the same **** senior players who are letting us down all season. He has some talented youngsters at his disposal but doesn't want to start them.

Only one person to blame for tonight is rodgers - 4 months of mediocrity and there's no change. If he cannot see this come Sunday, then I want him out

Glad to see Markovic show us what he is capable of doing.

Hopefully Rodgers gives him more minutes to build up his confidence.

They also have the best DM in the world in Busquets who is a master in that role.

    Hugely underrated defensively.

Not even checked the papers but in guessing they're creaming about gerrard and describing his performance as heroic.

Bar the goal - he was absolute dross. As he has been all season.
