Tonight 7pm in the Youth Cup.
Anyone going? Seems a bit rich asking 4 quid for the game when season pass holders get in free for reserve games. Think I'm going to pop along.

The FA Youth Cup is always something the lads look forward to because there's a glamour attached to it," said Russell.

"The lads here have seen what can happen if you get on a run and that's part of the excitement.

"Whether it's at the KC Stadium or other big grounds, those are the nights you remember. They're great occasions.

"If we can get through the third round, you never know where you might end up."

City crashed out in the third round last season when beaten 2-1 at home to Peterborough but are hopeful a promising season will include a run in the FA Youth Cup.

Despite suffering a dip in form over recent weeks, including a 3-2 loss to Bradford City on Friday, the young Tigers have impressed at their new Bishop Burton Base. In 13 games this season City's under-18s have scored 29 goals, with hot prospect Jarrod Bowen weighing in with 10 already.

"The first aim is to do well week-to-week in the league but the FA Youth Cup gives us a different sort of challenge," added Russell.

"We're coming up against a side we wouldn't normally play and in front of a crowd that we wouldn't normally get.

"That's all part of the players' development and hopefully we can keep it going."

Tonight's date with Brentford is a repeat of the 2011-12 third round draw. On that occasion the Londoners earned a 2-1 victory at North Ferriby, holding their nerve in extra-time.

The Bees promise to pose another stiff challenge for City on their return to East Yorkshire. The Category Two academy club currently sit top of the Professional Development League Two South, winning seven of their 13 games this season, and will make the journey north in high spirits.

Russell has scouted Brentford in recent weeks and is under no illusion his City side will need to be at their best to progress.

"It's going to be a difficult game," said Russell. "They've got a strong side and they're enjoying a good season.

"They managed to get the better of us a couple of years ago up here and we know it won't be easy.

"We've had them watched and there's a couple of things to look at it, so hopefully we can get the right result."

TONIGHT'S game kicks off at 7pm. Admission is £4 adults and £2 concessions.

Never in doubt, be disappointed if we don't win it though.

What the **** was Jarrod Bowen playing at. I expected at least a brace from him.

Just another big time charlie not making the most of his talents.

I was given a team sheet but there were no numbers so I didnt know who was who. Was talking to a Liverpool scout, who'd come to see Cameron Greaves for them. Rosenior was there watching. Buggered off when their second went in, shame on you Liam!!

Very impressed by the Bees first half. They played into a really strong wind. First goal was a penalty, not sure how much contact there was. They looked physically bigger than us.Their CB CF and RW especially. Though their little number 10 was really good, only small but good little footballer. We kept banging it too long.

Second half they looked comfortable and probably a little bit too easy thinking they had it won. Lad called Courtney Senior scored a cracking goal for them after a good passing move. We just kept going though. Never gave up. Then out of nothing, Ben Hinchliffe ???? put in qa brilliant cross from the left wing and i think Will annan nodded it in at the back post. Game on.
We kept pressing and pushing and then another excellent strike from the edge of the box, Annan again?? in off the post.

    Extra time.

We kicked with the wind and won a free kick edge of their box. Will Annan took it and curled into the far corner, superb goal. We held on and had a bit of luck. Last minute of the second half of ET and their CB missed control of the ball eith the goal wide open. Get in.

They looked a good side but took us to easy, over confident. Dont do a cocky little dance after the second goal right in the corner, the whole team doing a little jig thinking they had it won. Cockney tossers.

The ref was strangely attractive, thank **** it was a woman. Few challenges went in at the end and she didnt keep it under control, only a yellow for one of City. Couple of them shoulda been in the book.

    Well done lads.

3 quid for a pint of Tetley and 4 quid to get in. kinell

Well done lads, cracking 'never say die' team spirit. Maybe if the senior team could play a full 90mins we might not be in such a pickle.:emoticon-0148-yes::emoticon-0148-yes::emoticon-0148-yes:
