This is where question have to be asked, starts to effect the league games, injuries could happen. Priority is promotion,we aint going to win the fa cup do we really need the additional hassle especially against the likes of Donny with all due respect to them.
Winnable game. They will be more worried about us than we are about them But it was still a **** draw !
It has to rank up there as one of the worse possible draws. I'm incline to agree with Red Robin and rest important players for this game and save them for the league games as by February we be starting to have games in hand and having to play midweek especially if we win tomorrow in the Mickey Mouse Cup
we have Doncaster away on the 3rd of Jan then again on the 24th.... One day we'll get a good draw..... one day.
Game on 24th now postponed because on of us will be in 4th round on that day. So two games to catch up on in midweek. The priority is promotion and we could do without a cup run like this. Small crowds, risk of injuries (Todd Kane), risk of yellow/red cards. If we win at Doncaster, a home draw against anyone will only bring in about £100,000 as our share of the gate because of limited capacity. We just don't get plum away draws to make a cash killing. This could harm our season more than we realise now.
Agree that the draw was a massive anti-climax. However, i don't see how this one game will 'harm' our season. The more games the lads win, leads to greater confidence. If we win tomorrow, we definitely need one or two signings in January to strengthen, but where City are, it should be fairly straight forward to attract some decent players.
You said it yourself if we win in the Mickey Mouse cup tomorrow then we will need to bring new signings in to cope with the additional games. However new signings wouldn't neccessary breed success, just look at the way Newcastle imploded when they tired to strenghen in the January window when they were miles clear at the top of the Premiership a few years back. We need to keep playing the fringe players in the cups and try and keep our better players fresh and hopefully injury free for the league campaign
Is there a special ball for Bristol City that is drawn from the no-hoper drum or perhaps the bad draw drum because when was the last time you saw us draw a decent team at home? The mighty days of the possibility of an away tie at a top club, which we win, has disappeared from the radar and I am remembering the evening huddled around the radio at work on the nightshift in Andover when City beat Leeds 1-0 and the world was good. Living on memories seems to be our only option these days but some day we will get the lights, camera and action down at Ashton Gate for a major F.A. Cup match, but I am quite prepared to wait for the Champions League.
At the early stages don't the numbers in the bag stay the same for each club? So if WSM had beaten Doncaster you'd have been off to the Woodspring!
JGF can you work out the odds of getting one of the top 6 prem teams please. That should put into perspective as to why we get **** draws in the early rounds. I think it some like 1 in 7 or 8 chance of getting one
