Absolutely. We are not the only ones to have spent "big".

17th would be good. 16th would be great.

Even 20th is better than Dolan.

Why are some people so blind? If you think today was a point gained then you need to take a long hard look at yourselves! That was as bad a display as I have ever seen. No idea going forward and only 3 crap shots on target from 90 mins. If you can't make attacking chances against a frankly awful west brom team then we are seriously in the ****! People on the way out saying it was a must not lose game! But what happens when we get beat by chelsea then Swansea becomes what ? A must not lose?? Today was tactically awful and made me for the first time question Steve Bruce!! Awful awful awful

Must have missed most of the 1990s then?

Excellent post Gawge. Agree with virtually all of your analysis. Meyler made more runs forward and put in more hard challenges for 50/50 balls in their half of the field today than Hudd has all season. Same with Quinn who gets open all over the pitch and gives us another attacking option. Huddlestone is obviously a very skilful player and has a wicked shot but Bruce has him playing far too deep so he adds very little in an attacking sense other than spraying long balls out to the wing. With his size and strength he should be making Diame type runs into the box (remember Sheffield United?). More often than not he just receives the ball and passes it back or sidewards....when he turns and runs at the opposition he looks threatening.

Rosie on the left makes no sense. Brady with Quinn inside him make a good combo with Robbo always willing to go on the overlap with his speed and ability to put in hard crosses when running full tilt. I agree we have the players to be a competitive mid-table team. I just don't feel, as do others on here today, that we are using them effectively.

Listened to Humberside on the way home from the match and the list of negative, honest and probably knee jerk reactions seemed endless. So why is a large percentage of people that write on here are fence sitters and excuse makers?

I've just checked and we've had 2,786 performances worse than today's, but most of those were down to a lack of talent, today's was down to a lack of players in their right positions.

So, that'd be roughly 50 odd full seasons' worth of ****ter performances.

    Case closed.

Don't give me that rubbish! Never mind the past! It's about now and for the money we have spent in the summer we have been awful and it's about time people woke up to that! People say 'great point against Everton' I was bloody there and for long periods we were awful! And to comment on a previous comment, Quinn runs around a lot but offers us nothing going forward! Neither does meyler. And aluko shouldn't be anywhere near a football pitch when jelavic is on the bench, and no aluko did not play well! He played center forward and never had one attempt

I don't think the vast majority of people ever thought that, they just hoped for better football.

When Dr Allam sells us, or stops putting his own cash in because no one wants to buy us and we are relegated, you'll look back on today and wish we were this good again.

Yeah, I think Huddlestone is capable, he has shown it. I'm not sure whether he is asked to just sit and pass it to the wing? But to be honest, even if he was asked to do that, he genuinely NEVER runs forward with the ball, he is essentially a CB when we have the ball. I'd be open to him trying a more forward role, but apart from a few examples, Quinn seems a much better option.

They were played as wingers, when they are far more useful in the centre. But Quinn is capable of great, cutting edge passes if we let him have the ball in the middle of the pitch - rather than doing donkey work on the wing with Rosenior, both of whom do fine, but aren't going to do rip it up on the wing in the Premier League.

Similarly, Meyler, on the occasions he didn't have to awkwardly work the wing and got central, actually did some exciting things. He isn't Yaya Toure, but he can run forward with a ball, he can make a crunching tackle (things neither Huddlestone or Livermore ever seem to do).

I just worry the obvious technical ability of Huddlestone and Livermore clouds the fact that they bring a very small amount of benefit to the team.

This is a good point. They're both useful defensively, but for all their talent they achieve **** all going forward. Too many of our players fit that criteria in fact.

we've played better without Allam and Brucie and with less debt - some people seem to forget those halcyon days in 2008 - if we get relegated its entirely Brucies and Allams responsibility

Huddlestone and Livermore are clearly under instruction to play the way they do and sit deep.

The players aren't the problem, the instructions are.

Wish I had your faith but I’m afraid the vast majority of people are ****ing stupid and I wouldn’t be surprised if they had expected us to be pushing for the top 6. (a la LCFC fans).

All I hoped for was a few decent games of football, some decent play on offer, and the European dream. Nevermind the investment old senile Allam has made, what about the rip off prices we're paying to watch absolute ****ingg by turd. It's daylight robbery.

It may not be as bad as the 90's but at least my children's season pass didn't cost anything.

£500 for this ****, give it a rest.

Brucey has **** all over those hopes that in spectacular fashion.
