Although happy I'd be happier if hadn't just watched such aimless drivel at the dw- a piss poor match btw two v poor sides on the day and bloody cold- the northern soul before the match made it more fun
just don't know how this is possible: being glad with a clean sheet against a team that did no effort to make any goal.... so, just normal and no more that that!
Yes you're quite right, we should have played without defenders and pleaded with Malky to give up his usual dire, defensive ways and give us a challenge. Never mind the fact that our form over the last 10 games has been shocking and a return to normality is quite an improvement. Are any of us getting carried away?
This is the very sort of thing that makes me despair about some of our fans, who for weeks have said that Adams lacks any tactical nous, and yet when we win an away game in Wigan (who were a PL team 2 years ago), it's brushed aside as if it were nothing. It'd be great to win 3 or 4 nil, but that isn't always possible when you've been booed off by your own 'fans' the week before. The difference was the application, concentration and work rate for all 93 minutes. Cut out the errors we all said - they were cut out. Yes, Ruddy did drop one ball, but he also made a triple save in the only real threat Wigan produced. Otherwise it was a disciplined and professional performance that did precisely 'cut out the errors'. Is that good enough? Not for some it seems. Bloody pathetic I'd say.
not forgetting thats only wigans second home loss this season, they have been very strong defensively at home this season, even Boro couldnt get a win there only a few weeks back. For me the team looked at lot more focused and they looked like they actually cared about the game and put it some effort. That counts for a lot in my book.
terrible match by all accounts. frankly, I couldn't care less (albeit I didn't pay to sit through it!) 3 points was absolutely essential today, no matter what the circumstances - we got them. now let's build on it - that's the key now
Awesome day - three points, clean sheet and I won almost £250 for picking three goalscorers! Bojan, Johnny Howson and Leeeeeeeeroy Fer! Happy days
Haven't read any of this thread until this page, don't think I'll bother if that's how it's been. Three points, clean sheet and we've remembered how to win again - that'll do for me
I get this, really I do. I want my team to do well, but it sparks up the old debate - is it all about results, and sod the entertainment value? I've supported this team for many a year, we've been up, we've been down. You know what? I'd settle for some entertainment for my money these days. I promise not to moan about the Manager or the players if they can offer this small thing.
A win is a win, after such a poor run. Just a shame we had to revert to the 'Ipswich way' to win a game though (without all the dirty tackles obviously)
Maybe, but how long will their form last with the players they have? Could it be a false dawn for them with players of limited ability? I remember watching Daryl Murphy scoring for Waterford against Kilkenny years ago. He's the Jamie Cureton of his time.
