Cheers to all that have donated. Just waiting on a price, which should give us an idea of size, but based on really rough guesstimates, I reckon we shouldn't be far off a goal sized banner. Lot's of people are helping out and using their connections to try to get us the best deal. I've sent the draft to someone last night, and they're going to pass it to people they know. As a lot is dependent on the good will of other people taking time out of their already full schedules, I'm reluctant to set deadlines, but I'm hopeful we can be placing the order in the early part of next week. Cheers again.
I'm hoping Dutch is going to do a Geldof drunken rant soon. We want yer ****ing money..... While sliding off to the Maldives as Bob says. That appeals to my warped sense of humour.
The Southern Supporters are kindly handling the money, and they send me updates here to the Maldives, the last one was last night, so there's a few missing. Am I being paranoid in not posting the total until I get a quote in case it affects the price, or would people prefer I post the updates as I get them?
Bump. How we doing Dutch? After another drab atmosphere we need to do summat and quickly. I often think the team need to do summat to lift the crowd as we were very quiet. We get that with a fantastic penalty save and the atmosphere went up for 5 minutes then quiet again. We really didnt encourage or drive the team on. the shagger song for Macc on 8 minutes. ctwd on 19:04 very muted A few choruses of Steve Bruce Do we/did we sing anything else? Are the fans giving up on the team? The atmosphere (sic) in West is appalling now. I look around and they dont even clap the team coming on the pitch. Very little applause for a piece of good play or a tackle. Even Macc's pen save, no one even left their seat around me. I'm moving next season.
I've given the guy with the contact at the banner company another nudge. If I hear nothing, I got another offer yesterday that I'll take up, as I'm keen to get this done. If anyone has any contacts with banner companies, if they could PM me the details I'll get in touch with them too.
It's not anyone at the moment. I think the one I was told we had good connections with was Oldham, but sadly I've heard nothing back. Maulled1904 has almost finished the design that the printers would want, so I'll send it off to as many as I can find tomorrow or Tuesday. It'd be good if there was a local one from several perspectives.
Good to support a smaller local business than some big corporate entity or some arts wholes (predictive, warranted leaving) in a land far far away, even if it costs a few quid extra (within reason of course). How's the Maldives?
A quick update from the Maldives. I've had the quotes back now and I've accepted one from the original recomendation, which was BarmyFlags in Oldham. The final size is 20' x 8', so just a tad under goal size, but it's possible we could just scrape to 24' if people think it's worth asking? Personally, I'd stick as we are. They've printed City flags before, so already have our colour schemes etc. They're extremely busy at the moment, so can't promise delivery for the Swansea game, but are optimistic we can receive it in the week between Christmas and New Year, so hopefully we can pencil something in for the Leicester game. The next step is for us to decide what to do with it, for that game and beyond. Baring in mind, all suggestions will be subject to approval from the Club. My preference is something along the lines of people presenting it to the club, either at the game or at the training ground. I don't mind who does that, I don't want to, but I'd reckon Maulled1904 gets first shout for all his work with the design. Beyond that, I think it'd show solidarity if someone from each of the main groups was there. At the game, my choice would be for the youngsters in the South Stand to look after it. Maybe even have a few of them walk it across the pitch to let it go round the stand? After that, it can either do that each game, or have a home in the stand? Any other thoughts? Oh, and well done all.
