Are they staying with us or what? We need them. But they're still loanees, so what's the news on lacking them down????
We should at least play them as a pair since they are familiar playing together for Chile, and seem to work well off one another.
As I understand it, we are waiting till the end of the season before any decision is made. I would imagine that the two players would want to wait too. They won't want to play in the Championship!
I thought we had Isla only until January? Or was that talk about him going back in January, regardless? Which was it?
The way Vargas played Tuesday and his first games for us make him look suited for the Championship. Maybe Isla is out of position as a RB but defensively he's Championship level being kind. Other than Green and occasionally Krancjar, the whole team looked Championship level Tuesday, the terrible passing suggest we'd struggle there. I think we seriously over-rate our Squad - many new players look to be needed for us to stay up, and a Manager who can get them to play home and away.
We go down expect another total rebuild and failure ... Th club has a lot to answer for Imo and pre season next season better be a lot better than playing pub sides
They look very good playing for Chile - a team with a clear, consistent way of playing, and a certain joie de vivre. They obviously didn't do so well for their clubs in Italy, otherwise they wouldn't be with us. I think they are decent players in the right system and playing in the right positions - Isla is not a true right back. Both thrive in teams which press high and move the ball forward quickly and accurately. Oh dear.
I can see both staying if we survive and expect both to return to their parent clubs if the worst happens. Both offer us something and, while Vargas rightfully takes the plaudits amongst them, I do think that Isla has been getting consistently better (especially when both of them work together).
