Ouch. Tony won't be happy with that, that's pretty much our strongest line up reserve team wise. Will there be somebody on here to make a tenuous link between the performances of the first team having an effect on the youth?

So far this season their record is W/6 D/0 L/3, if the first team had got 18 points from their first 9 games I think they'd be reasonably happy.

Hull City U21s went down to a disappointing defeat when they were beaten 3-0 by Burton Albion at St George’s Park on Monday afternoon.

Tony Pennock fielded a much less experienced side than the one which lost to Middlesbrough in the U21 Premier League Cup. Eldin Jakupovic, Liam Rosenior, Alex Bruce, Harry Maguire and Yannick Sagbo were all omitted with Rory Watson, Josh Clackstone, Eoghan McCawl, Johnny Margetts and Karim Rossi coming into the side.

The first chance of the game came the way of the hosts but Watson went low to his left to keep out Mark Shelton’s shot.

Darragh Lenihan fired a good chance over the bar for the Brewers whilst for City McCawl and Max Clarke both saw shots deflected for corners and Rossi sent a left foot strike over the bar.

The deadlock was broken in the 35th minute when Jacob Blythe was left totally unmarked to meet a cross from the right and head into the top corner giving Watson no chance.

Albion could have doubled their lead just minutes later when Dominic Knowles was sent clear through the left channel but his shot was poor and Watson easily saved.

City had another escape just before the interval when Shelton floated the ball in from the left and Knowles headed wide of the near post.

Half Time: Burton Albion Reserves 1 Hull City U21s 0

Watson turned substitute Sam Austin’s shot away for a corner at the start of the second period but Burton increased their lead in the 54th minute. Knowles’ header from a corner was cleared off the line by Leon Dawson but the Albion striker pounced on the rebound to slam his shot into the net.

The Tigers could have pulled a goal back when Burton keeper Sam Hornby failed to claim a cross but Johan Ter Horst fired wide of the post.

Margetts had a shot saved by Hornby and at the other end Watson kept out Jimmy Phillips’ strike but the Brewers went three up in the 77th minute. Knowles collected Marcus Harness’ cross from the right, turned and struck a left foot shot into the bottom corner.

It could have got worse for City but Knowles was denied his hat trick as his header came back off the crossbar.

A good run from Clark ended with his shot being saved by Hornby but the Tigers ended well beaten.

Burton Albion: Sam Hornby, Kelvin Maynard (Sam Austin 46), Joe Doyle, Liam Slade, Ian Sharps (Charlie Gatter 60), Darragh Lenihan (Jimmy Phillips 46), Lee Bell, Mark Shelton, Jacob Blythe, Dominic Knowles, Marcus Harness.

Subs Not Used: Charlie Hornby, Ben Fox.

Hull City: Rory Watson, Josh Clackstone, Leon Dawson, Matty Dixon, Ben Clappison, Sam Topliss, Eoghan McCawl (Will Annan 77), Max Clark, Johnny Margetts, Karim Rossi, Johan Ter Horst.

Subs Not Used: Joe Walker, Jarrod Bowen, Dan Batty, Matt Hinchliffe.

The first team are not playing Burton Albion.

That is a shocking result. How many other Premier League Under 21's teams have been beaten 3-0 by a Div 2 under 21's team ?
