Hi All, Seen Elland has been called into a meeting so thought I'd kick this off for him... What do we all think about the crazy new yesterday? Do we think Massimo will appeal the decision? How does everybody rate this current team and who do you think are the 3 best platers? Anyone going to Ipswich on Saturday? Cheers MOT
Morning all. Dont know what to make of what Cellino will do. doubt if he knows yet. All sorts of conflicting reports.Bates arrived in England last night for ten days. Papers reporting Red Bull now ready to bid and Cellino wants to sell to them. Cellino says hes going nowhere. So make what you want of all that.As I said previously, I hope none of this ****e has a detrimental effect on the playing side just when we were making progress
I'm trying to ignore all of this nonsense... Hopefully it will sort itself out! I do wonder what the football league has against us!?
Agreed, but we dont always make life simple for ourselves. Since Bates arrived weve been on the edge of breaking/bending rules many times. Were just making it too easy for the fl.
Good morning to Matt and his band of brothers from a hazy cote de Bardsey Unfortunately Matt is indisposed so I thought being the oldest I would take up the cudgel Massimo my favourite Italian apart from Sophia Loren says he will fight the ban imposed upon him by the numptees who run the football league .Is it worth the expense when he can be back in charge on the 18 March 2015 I personally don't think its worth it Red Bull are rumoured to be taking an interest in the presen situation but after Sat performance the clever money will be on a big not for sale sign outside ER Cellino spent yesterday trying to resolve various financial issues with GH CAPITAL and was hoping to extract £5 m from them no doubt he visited Haigh to get further information out of him! The under 18 play tonight against the world best team in Chelsea KO 7.05 well worth the £5 to see the future premiership stars Jason Pearce played for the reserves last night in anil nilk draw agianst Forest I think it will be sometime before he gets a first team game Daren Odea is reputed to be wanting to come backI for one can't see this happening Mike
Morning Johnny, all Think there was more shock attached to yesterdays announcement than anything. When you hear about the conviction being spent in March etc the shock gives way to a familiar feeling of victimisation on the part of the football league. I was having a good think about that yesterday, and it can't really be coincidence this many times, can it? Yes Massimo committed a crime, and it is absolutely right that the Football League look to enforce their F&P test for directors. However, they don't seem to have applied it to any of the other crooks managing clubs, and, it all just seems a little bit like points-scoring that they chose our owner to pursue despite the fact their ban can only stick for 3 months. They know that he will be back, they just wanted to make a statement. I think LUFC called it absolutely right this time by accusing the FL of trying to destabilise our club. We don't have to go back far in the last decade to find more examples of that... Which led me to thinking about their motivation. I've seen arguments that the FL don't want us out of the league as we are too big a club. I can't believe that, or maybe I just don't want to. Yes we are big, but until very recently we were also haemorrhaging money so we can't have been much of a cash cow for them really. I imagine they are rubbing their hands more at the clubs who get relegated, bringing with them some temporary fans to boost attendances, and publicity of some potentially big money (for the championship) transfers. Ross to Fulham, anyone? All in all, yesterday was massively cheered up by one very well crafted tweet: please log in to view this image I expect to see Verne Troyer unveiled as Minimo Cellino very soon #lufc - from @LCSEd_Clarkyboy
Ahh but when you think about the amount of times we get put on tv and the coverage that brings for the football league... I think its makes sense that the FL want to keep us in their power! Why else would they pull a stunt like this when it only means Massimo will be out for power for a few months... Anyway I'm starting to focus on the on-field matters... How good is it to see Mowatt, Byram and Cook in that Leeds team! And you could argue they are our best players!
Morning all. Can't be bothered about the FPP test, as Cellino will find it spent in a few months. So he can appeal orjust "sell" the club to one of his group whilst keeing an active involvement from a distance. TBH, the only thing that matters is what we do on the pitch
Good morning. Does any one know when the appeal against the conviction for Nellie will be heard ? Obviously win that and that's this problem solved. Seems to me the FL are waiting with glee for the 2 other tax avoidance cases to come to court in Italy so they can then ban Cellino for a year if he's found guilty even though under Italian law he is still innocent until after 2 further appeals.
Fair point on the TV coverage, Jonny. It's great to have a core of youth in Mowatt, Byram, and Cook though. Very happy that Byram seems to be returning to his best again after a dodgy period under BMD. Cook has been a breath of fresh air this season, but we need to make sure the same doesn't happen to him as did Byram. Mowatt has really stepped up his game as well, and I wouldn't consider him anything other than a regular starter in our midfield now. He's really come of age this season.
Towards the end of last season all the people I sit with at the games were getting on Mowatt's back saying he's rubbish and he wouldn't make it because he doesn't have pace... I kept faith and kept telling them he will be one of our best players! This season i have just sat there with a smug smile on my face!
Well I for one was not sold on Mowatt because he seemed slow and easily dispossed but last Sat he ran and harried and worked very well for the team hes not the finished article yet but he has progressed enormously this season
