I can not believe who Michael Blake has put up on dear old Typical Oscar in the card commencer at Southwell (on the sod not the Sands) tomorrow. I’m sure I speak for everyone in the county when I say I’m most disappointed and saddened.

Up until yesterday Mr Blake was ranked the 14th most shrewdest man in Wiltshire. I fear his position may have fallen somewhat after this decision.

Providing THAT man doesn’t fall off or whip the poor old horse to kingdom come Typical Oscar should still go in again as a 9 pound rise for his win over course and distance, last time out, doesn’t look that excessive.

Sticks mare is dropped in distance and goes left handed, looks like Mr Longsdon has listened to the forum. Is she primed for a big run Stick?

Cityhull, She is running over a furlong further than LTO!

2. Landerbee (IRE
3. Arthur Mc Bride (IRE)

Timeform View
Plenty to consider in an open handicap, with the vote going to Present Trend who rates the type to improve on her Towcester return/handicap debut in October. Landerbee and Arthur Mc Bride bring contrasting profiles to the table but can get involved if jumping better.

No Pressure <laugh> The main thing is that everyone enjoys the day and return home safe & sound!
Good Luck <ok>

I genuinely have no idea what to expect tomorrow guys. I personally think she needs 2m 6f not a drop in trip. I think the brave play will be to lay her in running two out when she is tanking along as over this trip I am pretty confident that she will get outpaced again.
If I hear any different I will be on to share!

Good money Early-Doors for the Ex-Longsdon trained Liars Poker 7/1 from 14's, now representing the Hennessy winning combo!

Sod it Stick, I have faith and I've had a little on at 7/1, good luck!!

Also really, really, REALLY fancy Sam Lord 12/1 in the 2:00 at Sedgefield to further enhance his impressive course form - figures of 11122275 from his 8 visits. Ignoring the last 2 visits here which were both over trips too far, I think he has a chance of stealing the race from the front and will take some pegging back over his optimum distance under a low weight. Throw in the 5lb claimer and it makes him a smashing eway bet in a 9 runner race in my opinion.

Not too confident about this next one as likely needs further. I'm willing to take an eway chance on Lord Of The Storm 12/1 in the 5:10 at Wolv after an encouraging 4th when meeting trouble in running (beaten a length at the line) over a little further at this course on Saturday.

Good luck all and enjoy your day Stick!!

Beat me to it, 14/1 a nice ew price for a horse whose course and distance form is 22111. Had a run to sharpen up, well worth an ew poke. All the best with yours Stick, hope all goes well.

Yes Chan, will hopefully strip fitter - ran over too far last time and has bounced back after a duff one in the past. Let's keep our fingers crossed and I would think a place at least shouldn't be a big ask.

Going against the consensus here on the Sedgefield 2.00.
I think the other course winner Light The City will be superior today.

Good luck Barley, had a look at that one due to good course form but the 12/1 on Sam Lord made up my mind.

It's a race in which no obvious contender leaps out as the likely winner and so I feel Present Trend has as good a chance as any. The one that would likely take my eye would be the Mick Appleby trained Flash Tommie, I think he is a fantastic trainer and would carry my money if betting in this race. This said Present Trend could work against him if she sets a real strong pace as she will hopefully look to do over this trip.

I really liked the way Present Trend travelled last time and I feel if she sets that decent gallop and if the Jockey goes for home as early as he dares she may just find them coming off the bridle one by one behind her. If there is one with a change of pace close enough at the last she will likely get passed, but there is no obvious contender for that scenario in this race. I hope he will lead the first half of the race at a decent but not silly pace and at the mile pole ask her to go to for home and see if she can take the pace out of everything.

I have talked myself into it now, a small bet on Present Trend to cheer on with Stick, and a fiver reverse forecast with Flash Tommie for fun.

Hello, I’m Barney Chuckles. You may remember me from threads such as ‘Things you have done at Bath Racecourse which you now regret' and ‘If Henry VIII was alive today who would train his racehorses?’.

As I stated above TYPICAL OSCAR goes in the card commencer on the Southwell sod (12.15) and he really should oblige. In fact current quotes of 13/8 appear quite reasonable. When he won over course and distance, last month, the front 2 were 32 lengths clear of the 3rd and to further enhance the form the horse who finished runner-up (Head Spin) that day bolted in yesterday by some 16 lengths. Still not happy about the saddle monkey booking but Typical Oscar should be able to overcome this.

Finally, dear old Edwina now as low as 11/2 to win ‘I’m in the Jungles’ (advised 33/1). Go get ‘em, old girl!

Good luck all.

Ste - Present Trend, drifted to 8/1 but I think she has a hell of a chance

Also followed Barney with Typical Oscar, like he says the form of his last win was franked yesterday and unlike Barney I'm sure AP will get een more improvement from the horse

Just out of interest Sir Barney old boy which saddle monkey would you prefer riding the selection were the 19 time champion Jockey and 4000 winning AP McCoy not riding the horse?
