MM is doing that though this season isn't he? He probably didn't as much last season (Chambers spring to mind) as he probably did not think he had enough decent personnel throughout the squad.
The back five have been superb this season no matter what line up has played, and how many times do you see McG clear an opposition corner with a near post header. So what was the turning point? In my opinion its the togetherness and the " all for one and one for all " attitude MM has instilled in the squad, we might not be the most skilful team in the division but we never give up and fight to the last whistle.
I swear I lost count of the number of times Goldy tracked back and helped out Mingsy at Left Back on Saturday. He was immense as indeed was Murphs! This is the big difference with previous Town teams, everyone knows their jobs and everyone works their fooking nuts off!
I'd say Hyam and Tabb are actually defensive midfielders or you could say tenacious but wouldn't really say attacking although they definitely are more than Skuse. I think Hyam and Tabb could quite comfortably occupy the defensive position Skuse currently holds and do it well, Tabb showed this against I believe it was Watford where he had a superb game as the defensive midfielder, he set the tempo of the game and supported the attacks passing and moving, I was quite annoyed he lost his place in the team to Skuse when Skuse hasn't played that well in that position all season
I think the Skuse issue is the one area we all agree on, at least to a degree, it is certainly the one area in MM. Decision making that has left me puzzled a couple of times this season. You are correct he has got straight back into the team when his replacement has done a decent job!
For me the turning point was half time at Derby. They were 1-0 down and i was resigning myself to another possibly heavy defeat, but they came out after half time and just looked a different team, wanting the ball, using the width of the pitch, getting forward , Bishop making an impact and since then we just haven't looked back.
Not sure what game you were watching if you went but bar running Bru looked totally out of his depth at Derby. We were class second half there for sure.
it was meant as a compliment to MM. Hamps said that getting JW back was the turning point but any player now matter how good makes a better contribution if used in the right way
