Could be a sign that both these players are about to be sold. Halford was on loan at Portsmouth last year and Maierhofer at Duisberg. Portsmouth have made an offer and Duisberg wanted to pay less than Wolves had suggested so maybe deals are in the pipeline.
Let's hope that is the reason and it's not just McCarthy trying to send a message to their agents that they are surplus to requirements. They should already be aware of that so we'd be no further forward.
