I was next to them they took 20 mins to get the bottle to let it off and they paniced TBH when they threw it i really dont thinl they wanted to get anyone just the pitch, they were ****ting a brick, so a ban to me for life is OTT. Im sure a stiff word and maybe teh fella meets the lady who it hit say sorry buy her a drink and move on
Bringing a flare to football is illegal, the club could get fined or made to play games behind closed doors, all just because of one selfish fan, doesn't matter if it hit anyone or not, doesn't even matter if they lit it, just by taking it into the ground they should do time in my view, would you say let him off if the guy had brought a gun into the ground, oh that's OK he was just shooting it into the air, he didn't mean to hit anyone with a bullet, no way, gun or knife or flare is all the same thing according to ground regulations and should be dealt with the same way, most people will agree with me.
It was a stupid thing to do and is something we associate more with the hooligans from Bermondsey than Charlton fans. In my humble opinion, an example needs to be made. A very, very long ban is the very least the moron who did this should be made to serve and I agree with the above poster who suggests that an unreserved apology should be forthcoming. That sort of thing is not what Charlton Athletic are about. Never have been and never should be. We have to be better than that.
