It would be a strange thing if someone hadn't posted this already, but no matter. Is he talking sense, is the question..?

Well, he's been squirming around this question for several weeks already. Every time he's mentioned Saints, either on MOTD1/2, BBC606, or MOTD2 Extra, he's either said something directly or hinted at it. If he was Steve Claridge, for example, and saying the same thing I think a lot of us would take his words seriously, because Claridge gets a lot of respect for his unbiased opinions and knowledge of the game, I feel.

Thing is, Claridge has been saying similar things, and probably, when all is said and done, a little more committedly too.

Robbie Savage is your typical over-reacting pundit, going from expecting us to get relegated to expecting us to get 6 points out of 9 from Man City (h), Arsenal (a), Man United (h) fixtures in the space of 12 games.
The truth around realistic expectation has always been between those two extremes, and even the most optimistic of us on here would probably say that just 3 or 4 points is a realistic expectation from these 3 matches. We may get 6, we may even get 9 given we play at 100% and get some rub of the green, but to expect more than 4 pts in advance of the games is setting oneself up to more likely to be proven wrong than right.

He likes to post and state controversial opinions to create a debate. Hope he is right though...

Isn't the title of this thread a classic oxymoron?
