Good Morning Everyone, Its transfer day! It could very easily be our last opportunity to sign players this season, if indeed we are slapped with a transfer embargo in the new year. This is what we know so far. Ajose has joined Crewe until the beginning of January. Noel Hunt is on his way to Ipswich. Fair play to them, they also took Cameron Stewart last season. Alex Wootton and Luke Murphy have both been told they can leave on loan. Who else would be expect / like to see leave? Are we expecting any incoming players? Talk of no transfer activity could very be a ploy! When are players like Del Fabro and Montenegro going to be given a chance to show what they can do? If we do sign a player or two, which positions need strengthening? I see that Darren Bent has just signed for Brighton. Is he better then the current crop of forwards we have? As always, if you spot a player on your travels today, or hear a rumour, we want to know about it first here. Its three years ago today that Gary Speed died. Gone, but not forgotton. Morning all. I think Rod Wallace was bald enough to qualify. Not expecting anyone in today. I've no faith in this emergency loan thing anyway. Just look at the standard of player clubs are signing ajose and hunt. Let's face it all it is is a last chance for clubs to get rubbish off their payrolls or get a few weeks playing time for players coming back from injury. Don't want any of them. Anyone thinking we're going to pick up a couple of wonder wingers will be very disappointed by tonight. I'll bet I've a better chance of spotting a target today in the fog than you lot
Morning Eire, pleased you have your eyes peeled... Suppose by signing 15 players in the Summer, we have more than enough to be getting along with....
Morning all. Peronally, I think it's time for Del Fabro & Montenegro to be given a healthy 20 minutes or so off the bench to show what they can do. We need to find out whether they should be signed soon or released back to their clubs. Might be a bit tough on them to bring them on against Derby this Saturday, but at least we'll see what they're made of.
Morning Boggers, couldn't agree more. Is it going to be hard dislodging Pearce, Cooper and Bellusci from the pecking order?
Morning TC, Well said. At 25, he was in his prime.. What an awful accident. I remember playing for my school team, I was standing at short leg (8 foot away from the batsman 90 degrees away). It was more of trying to intimidate the batsman. Anyway, the loosest ball you're ever likely to see was going leg side, and the batsman clobbered the ball straight at me / through me. Instant reflex reaction, I put my hand out to try and protect my face and the ball somehow grasped my left hand for the best catch you're ever likely to see. Had my hand not have been there, I would have been hospitalised at best. Towards the end of the game, my mum came to the pitch, saying I had to go. I could see she was upset. She then told me that my grandfather had just had a heart attack, which later he died from. From this day, and it may seem stupid to you, but I can't help thinking that he was watching over me, and feel guilt for his death.....
He turned his head (natural reaction), and was hit at the side / bad of the head that the helmet does not protect.
Hard to dislodge Pearce & Collins certainly, but Bellusci might be dooable. Depends on how good del fabro is. Mind you, given the screw up last week, there is an arguement for two Italian speaking CBs talking to an Italian Keeper to ensure and improve on organisation.
Bellusci has cost the club good money, and he has signed a 4 year contract. Do you not think he's in it for the long term?
Good morning from a very damp and dull Cote de Bardsey To matt and his merry men Well Hunt is on his way andgood luck to the lad Wooton too and posiibly Murphy but alas no incoming loanees so no plan B I THINK the biggest difference this season is we arent a force at corners as we were when Smith played we have no one unless we give Montengro a chance who can head a ball very much like England his heading becoming a dying art?
Bald coach: Neil Aspin. Sooner or later it's happening. What news on some loanees that will kick start our season. Have we signed 3 wingers, a goalkeeper who can kick, 6 midfielders who can close down and tackle, a forward who can trap a ball, jump more than 2" and head a football?
Yhey abandoned all the sheffield shield games out of respect. Plus it means the teams in the other games dont get the advantage of playing 10 games instead of 9.
