This may be old news but story I hear is SB's agent negotiated a £3 mil salary plus £2 mil promotion bonus, players get wind of this & call a meeting basically saying most of them signed because of Bruce & rightly p****d off if he went - may want out also. As a result SB pulls out...Makes his 'Big time charlies' jibe a bit rich in the eyes of some perhaps, lost a bit of trust too maybe?
Steve Bruce has taken us as far as he can. He knows this, moving to Fulham for a higher salary would have been an excellent move for him. Now he faces unemployment in the summer.

Well, the original source was an ex-player still with connections to the club. For my part I would not be overly surprised, if Fulham wanted SB they must have known that they would have to have a big carrot to dangle & 2mil plus potential bonus is a decent carrot. Brucie's stock has risen considerably since he joined us & like anyone he may well want to capitalise on that, you may not be hot for long in the footy world. He seems cursed to get offers at difficult times sometimes (Too soon!) which makes him look disloyal maybe, tho ultimately he chose loyalty to his players over money this time. I hope this is recognised within.The process may have planted some seeds of doubt in some players heads which may, albeit unconsciously, have affected performance at times. The other stuff the 'source' talked about was the good doctors determination to run the SMC at a loss then seek to dump it back on the council thinking that this threat may help them to change their mind on giving him the stadium etc. He also wants Hull fc out, they're costing him money too. Lets face it he hasn't got a great hand but he's a ruthless bugger when it comes to business & he'll play his cards the best way he knows how. Btw the jungle / Arctic references are hilarious...
