Watching the news just now. In America they have started off their pre Christmas sales (for short periods) to get the punters in to spend even more on the normal priced items. The cops are involved as angry customers fight over the reduced items. **** me, it's pathetic. Before anyone says "stoopid americans" we are all set to do it here as well. Welcome to a ****ed up consumerised world on even grander proportions.
Yep, black Friday this week. Watch people act like complete ****wits fighting over a television as if it's the last one in existence. I haven't got **** all yet, I'll make a start in the next week or so, what's the rush?!
The worst are the kids who have to have every games console. When I was a lad, you chose. Either Spectrum or Commodore, SNES or Megadrive, Gameboy or Game Gear. These days they have everything, plus a laptop, tablet and phone
Ipods these days, forgot those. We're getting my little girl a Tesco Hudl tablet. Only £129 and they're pretty decent. She'll get a few bits and pieces besides, but nothing major. One of the few blessings of my son being disabled is that he doesn't need anything really expensive. He's happy with Spongebob and Winnie the Pooh teddies. Though he has broken his Ipad five times in a year
* It's good to see that the spirit of Christmas hasn't disappeared ! - and there I was thinking that it was a season of goodwill to our fellow human. (although we certainly do plenty of badwill throughout the rest of the year - so perhaps I shouldn't complain if people do not behave like hypocrites for a few days a year)
It gets earlier every year. I was in Tesco yesterday and they've already got the eggs and flour in for Pancake Day.
Yet another thread descends in to decrepit auld fuds bemoaning today's society because they're all stuck in the 1950s. "I hate noise!" "Technology grrrr" "Today's consumer-based society" "I've shat masel' again" please log in to view this image
