I thought after his 45mins Vs City everyone said Barton should immediately replace all of our form players?

    I'd keep Barton over Leaningyak.
I'd take Boylassie over Hoilett on current form, although I think Hoilett is the better player.

I would take ANYONE over Phillips!!

I bloody didn't but I did say he played two nice passes with the outside of his foot that went to our players

His work rate cannot be slagged but he is an impostor of a footballer generally … he has been playing catch up with any talent all his career … his game was built around aggression and he paid for that … his corners and set plays are under 1 in 10 IMO and he will spoil any team he is in … He is a brilliant character and I really like him off the pitch but on it he makes us look like we are chasing the game too many games … great player to bring on for the last 15 minutes if we have something to protect IMO as pond as he has a marshall.

Palace are playing with team spirit it s that clear to me

Really don't understand what you see in hoilett Col. He's never hadd a period of being in form for us. He's shot to goals ratio is awful. He cuts insode on his right and scuffs a shot or blasts it high and wide which is even more of a waste now when you think how good in the air BZ and Austin are that we don't have a left footer to whip in a cross.

Even Hoilett's finest moment was a miscontrolled throw in, win a tackle then a poor cross straight to a defender!!

Phillips before he got injured last year reached a level that Hoilett never has with us. Derby home and Blackpool away in particular.

Personally see far more potential is Phillips if he finds sone confidence

I'd take Jedinak over any of our midfielders, he was the big reason (not Zaha) that got Palace up in their promotion year and he's a leader who can play at the top level whereas Barton is not quite as good technically.

Bolasie can blow hot and cold but at least he does blow hot, unlike Hoilett who is a shadow of the player he was at Blackburn in the PL and he's done bugger all for us...

I have no idea how good Phillips or Hoilett are because I can't remember either of them playing more than one or two full games in a row before being injured or dropped. I remember Hoilett looked very good playing for Blackburn in the Prem. I do know that they, with Niko, Taarabt and perhaps Fer and Vargas, are the only players we have who attempt to beat the player in front of them rather than stopping and passing sideways or back.

I have no idea what position Mutch is supposed to play in, let alone how good he may be. He made no impression on me playing for Cardiff, but I didn't follow them that closely. Similarly didn't notice Fer last season. I suspect he might be a decent player but it's all a bit Granero at the moment.

I do know that Barton is a very limited player at this level. He did play very well in one of the home games (can't remember which one), but 'attitude' can't make up for lack of talent.

Jedinek over Barton??? Give me a break. He has had a good start of the season thats all. Liverpool were even worse than against us and they didnt had that unbelieveable luck that they had against us. Simple as that.

    Hilarious <laugh>

That's how I feel about our midfield. They're all pretty mutch of a muchness at the moment. Except for Henry who's role is meticulous and maybe Kranjcar who is our most gifted player barring the one I daren't mention.

You can't be watching anymore than a couple of minutes MOD highlights occasionally Sylvio! Barton has been close to our best player in every game he has played this season (and last). If he has no talent then we are going down again, no doubt. He was everywhere Saturday, our motor mate, talent on view every minute of the game.

Never heard of the players in the thread title but from the responses I'm guessing they play for Palarse.

If the first bloke can run a lot but also pass then he's possibly better than Barton. If the second can make something happen with his final delivery/shot more than once every two years then he'd surely give Toilet a run for his money.

It seems like every one of our midfielders were once decent players but disintegrated since they joined us. At least Henry was always relatively sh*t so I like him. There's something reassuring about consistency in an individual.

I thought it was just me that thought like this.

Another who looks like he has potential and did appear to get better under Maclaren, but just hasnt managed to deliver IMO

You're not the only one who disagrees with me............all opinions eh?

IMO Hoilett always at least tries to make things happen and always gives us forward impetus. For me, Phillips is far, far worse than Hoilett. Plus, he is only fast once he gets going (which is hardly ever!). Hoilett is lightening quick over the first few yards.

    Opinions!

No he hasn't been close to our best player in every game, what a daft thing to write. I've done the maths and we perform worse when he is playing, always*. I see him pass wildly into touch with monotonous regularity, fail to find any of his own team from free kicks and corners week in week out, he has never beaten a man with the ball at his feet in his entire career, and his tackling is inconsistent at best. He runs around and shouts a lot, the poor mans Robbie Savage.

    * This may not be strictly accurate and I can't show my workings.

Daft?! I suppose having an opinion at all on this is daft, but don't see how you can have one at all from watching Match of the Day! Not scientific at all but from various ratings I seen he has been our best or close to best every game he's played this and last season. For me only Dunne and arguably Henry were better Saturday.

Bolasie has a huge presence but Hoilett does scare defenders when he gets on. Marginal but the CP player takes it. Phillips is a better crosser and possibly as much potential as either but looks like a ghost trapped in limbo - a spectre of a footballer who knows he can play but just can't remember how.

Barton or Jedinak? Neither for me. Henry and Sandro for the moment but I would like it if Fer and Henry ended up as the preferred pairing once Fer is a little more settled (he is getting better though).
