Great man. Team ruined by Hollins. 83-85 my favourite years as a Chelsea fan. RIP Johnny, bought some great players for eff all
R.I.P. JOHN. Brought some of my favourite players to The Bridge. Pat Nevin supplying the crosses for Kerry Dixon and "Jukebox" Durie. Those were the days.
RIP John. You leave us with wonderful memories of following our beloved Chelsea FC. Those were the days my friend. Come along, come along Come along and sing this song We're the boys in blue In Division Two But we won't be staying long
Was only born in 83 so never got to see the 83-85 team in action, but my dad assured me I was taken along to a couple games at 12 months old So I suppose technically I did see them in action, but have no memory of it. Regardless, RIP....
RIP John. Only really started going to the Bridge in '84, that team will always hold a special place in my heart.
Shed end singing Johnny Neal's blue and white army for a whole half.... when it started to tail off, a new singer would start with even more gusto!
JN got Dixon Speedie Spackers Nevin Mickey Thomas Joey Jones Eddie Niedzwiecki all for nothing. Should be a bar or something named after him: Frank Sinclair has one named after him FFS
Chelsea fans also didn't exist until 2003. So all of these players, and infact us ourselves, are all figments of our own imagination.
Having grown up in Fulham, when the R's weren't at home I used to go to the Bridge with my Chelsea mates in the early to mid eighties. This was the the time when John Neal was the manager. It was only last week on the train back from Wembley after the England game with those same mates that I posed the question... 'Who was the Chelsea manager when we used to go as kids.' It took a while, but we got there in the end. RIP John Neal.
I have only just been made aware of this, and am very sad to hear it. John really made his mark with us and gave us plenty to smile about after going though a pretty grim period in the late seventies and early eighties. RIP John- you will always be well thought of!
Some of the best days at the bridge under John Neal who can forget the celebrations after stuffing Leeds and Newcastle . And the epic Sheff Wednesday cup ties sad day for a certain generation of blues
