I wonder if things might have been different with Vargas onboard? Isla stayed on the bench too, so Onuoha was playing out of position at RB?

    Our worst performance in weeks.

Look on the games we have from now on compared to the ones we've been through and you should feel better mate. Every game between now and the new year are very winable.

Here's something I said in August and it has come true...

We lack creativity. Vargas playing out of position at right wing has been a plus and we missed him today.

Would we interested to hear what case anyone can make for Fer playing ahead of Ade IF we can get Adel fit. Today shows up how much we need him. We cant expect for every game to have tempo or the atmosphere like the City game. We are short of creative players on the wing. Harry clearly thinks Hoilett and Phillips aren't good enough. And Fer and Barton aren't wingers.

Vargas and Adel with Sandro and Barton holding and its a different story. Possibly also Mutch playing off Austin as BZ gets tired or comes up against players who can handle the aeriel side (Mangala, Demicheles and Loveren are an easier game for Bobby than Williamson)

Nonsense, the team just showed what they are capable of. The team overperformes at home but shows it´s mediocrcitiy away. Next week we we will get another 3 points and everything forgotten about today´s unlucky but deserved loss.

On the bright side, our Michael Petrasso scored his 3rd goal of the season for Notts County, who played most of the match with 10 men against Yeovil, who came back with a couple of late goals (84', 88') to win 2-1 which must really irk Shaun Derry.

Glad to say a red card also caught up today with that lovely character, Bradley Johnson of Norwich, in a 3-3 draw home to Brighton.

We really need to start getting points away from home, 6 straight defeats this season, only 2 goals scored, we will not stay up if we rely on our home form alone......

We seemed to be set up not to lose rather than try and win, very much like earlier in the season and last season....

I we are to go down I would prefer us to have a go and create chances, we did neither today....

A lot better than the early seasson away games but oh for some ambition.

The game was there to be won if we had shown more attacking intent. At least one point lost.

I thought the game was crying out for Isla to come on for Sandro so that we could get forward on the right. We looked more creative with Niko, but our chance of victory went when he dallied instead of playing the ball first time with his left.

Caulker & Yun were our stand out players IMO.

Really thought we made Newcastle look good today. The ball never stuck up front so we were always on the back foot. Ned is not a RB, Fer is not a LM and Joey is not a RM anymore. No pace or creativity on show today. Need to put it right next week.

You have to remember that Newcastle are the in form side in the Prem at the moment 5 wins on the spin before today, so we were always going to do well to get something from this game. I'm not too upset to be honest , I think with the games coming up we can certainly get a few points on the board.

On another frustrating point: Just switched off watching Arse-Manure at the other library. Wilshire throws his arm and obscenities at the ref, pushes his head into Fellanni's face, continues to offer out anyone who wants some and then gets spoken to, very nicely, by the ref: No card of any colour. Same idiot ref that just got us a 20K fine for not controlling our players. This one rule for them and one rule for us is really pissing me off.
Thank you and good night, I am going to drink some beer in a darkened room.

Mike Dean looking straight at the incident with an unobstructed view!

Not even a yellow card for that level of aggression, although it's definitely a straight red.

Even Fellaini telling him, WTF ref, do you see what he just did!

Looks like Jack Wilshire finally his just desserts, courtesy in part by Marouane Fellaini.

Now he's hobbling around and finally subbed. Apologies by commentator for earlier in this match viewers picking up some "bad language".

Gibbs own goal - Utd, 1-0 up!

Szczesny injured too in the build-up to the goal, also subbed off.

Commentator indicates, "Arsene Wenger must be wondering which ladder he walked under today".

IMO Hoilett IS good enough and I'd always play him on the left ahead of Fer, who should never, ever play there.
    Not sure about Mutch.
Hopefully Vargas and Isla will make a difference next week.

I hope it's not serious. Wilshire is important to England!

Big mistake not to include Isla.
Sanchez has had the same recovery time and looks as fresh as a daisy against Man Utd!!

Yes he is - my comment was aimed solely at the Fellaini incident, so in hindsight it would have been better if he had been red carded.

Fortunately the next Euro 2016 qualifier is 27th March 2015 so he has plenty of time to recover, plus the injury does not appear quite as serious as initially.

We need points. Anything else is just a 'shrubbery' of hope against the grim reality that Burnley won and we are bottom.

All this talk of 3 points against Leicester is over done.

We are still bottom of the league whichever way you cut it

Bottom of the league at Christmas looms ever larger
