If they don't know what they are doing then how the feck can we!?!?!? Nice to see a return to some sort of form for the yard though. You can almost put a line through anything of theirs that ran in the last fortnight!
I'm only messing Stick any info is much appreciated and I'm sure I don't just speak for myself saying that
Fit and well Nass and has schooled like a pro at home. The yard think a lot of him and have always thought we wouldn't see the best of him until he jumps a fence. On his hurdles form he really should win barring mishaps.
I am against him tomorrow with Puffin Billy who I think will come on for the run, and I couldn't back a Longsden horse at relatively short prices at the minute. Interesting race is that.
Lovely horse Puffin Billy who I thought was headed for greatness until MELODIC RENDEZVOUS totally wiped the floor with him. Has had his problems since but a lovely animal. Killala Quay hasn't always performed to expectations though has he. Neptune reads very well though as does his defeat of Beat That.
Both have shown plenty over hurdles and its not a two horse race tomorrow either. Really interesting card at Ascot tomorrow.
Two great riding performances this evening at Kempton from 7lb claimers. Sophie Killoran rode Gleaming Girl to win at 16-1 first up, she looked to have good balance and really allowed her horse to get in a rhythm which carried her through to the line. I was in two minds when appraising this ride first up as part of me recognised that if she had lost she could have been slated for not going for the whip during the finish, I would indeed have liked to see her use the whip just to see if she could have maintained the style and rhythm she had without it. We must give her the benefit of the doubt however as she won and say she took the mature view that the horse was travelling and giving her all and she knew she would get there Hughsie style. The second was an even better ride in defeat from C. Meehan to finish 2nd on Carrera in the last. This lad had a poor position and never panicked once but steered the horse into the right place up the straight to attack and take second from a very well backed winner who had the run of the race. It is possible to say he did not ride a sufficiently strong start if being picky but as with the previous ride we will give the benefit of the doubt as he was drawn 9 or 12 but his cool head coming through and general style bodes well and Carrera needs backing next time out in my opinion. It's very nice to see two 7lb claimers who look like they have a foundation to work on, whoever they are studying under is doing a good job. I love watching jockeys and although I get very frustrated sometimes by the poor rides we see there is nothing better than seeing a newcomer rising up and making a good job of it. I was trying to recall a female claimer I remember from a couple of years back who looked fantastic in a couple of rides I remember noticing. She rode for Michael Attwater I think, anyone remember her name?
Stick any thoughts on the longsdon horse in the 1st at ascot not bad form but the Hobbs horse looks the one to beat IMO bought for 300,000
They bought at out of Charlie Swans yard woolly after it had run decent races in two bumpers over the sea. It was a little disappointing on debut over here in another bumper and dare I say that the fact Fehily has jumped off another one speaks volumes.
BTW woolly, the horse that beat him last time runs in the first at Ffos Las....may give a line on how good the form is
They say that Hobbs horse was the most impressive point to point winner in Ireland last season. There was plenty of competition to bag him at Brightwells!
Interesting 300,000 you think there would have been! That combined with the form the stable is in an he has won soft ground too (am I right in seeing that) he wi be extremely hard to beat on paper but races arnt won on paper but also McManus wouldn't pay over 100k for a donkey either and has run behind him so will be a very interesting race as Nass said good card at Ascot tomorroe
Slight concern that Hobb's £300,000 horse begins with cheekpieces on Wooly mate. That would be slightly worrying IMO.
