I really don't know..but i wanted to see if anyone would have any thoughts on this... it is possible, but I am not sure anyone would want to put their nose in the fight. Massa already told Rosberg that he isn't going to help him, but who knows, someone might get a little help somewhere...Maybe Hamilton might count on old team mate Jenson or maybe Rosberg might count on fellow German Vettel...lol
Or maybe they're all fighting for themselves! I'm sure that if the Williams' can get ahead of Hamilton they'll give it their best shot. Plus Williams are best on the super soft tyres, maybe they won't have the race pace of the merc, but you never know.. But Bottas does like bottling it when he's in a good position, so hopefully Massa can get 2nd!
We need a Mercedes 1-3, otherwise the double points system won't make any sense and the whole season will be even more of a farce.
Double points is farcical whether it ultimately changes the championship or not. If It makes no difference, what was the point, if it changes the outcome then it's harsh on the driver who lost. Looks like it is going to be dropped for 2015, possibly the only good idea F1 will have made for some time.
Double points for the finalé makes about as much sense as a (previously) ridiculous medals proposal. Ironically, the two concepts are now proven to be direct contradictions. Does anyone need more evidence that Bernie's wild-card thinking, in general, is little more than a distraction to maintain F1 as the pinnacle of gossip and conspiracy, thereby keeping it in the headlines? Such proposals dismiss the interests of both competitor* and onlooker, and only benefit one entity. *Unless benevolently favoured. And yes, Ferrari and Red Bull, I'm still looking at you. – How it must hurt for an Arrows; Minardi; Caterham; Marussia; Ligier; Williams; Sauber; Honda; Force India; Hesketh; McLaren; Lotus; Mercedes or whatever to complete the circus as victor, I do not know. All I can hope for is 'long may the underdog continue', for this is the bread and butter, the very foundation of Grand Prix racing. And with regard to the impending result of the 2014 World Drivers' Championship; well, as with any other, I'd like to hope every fan is rooting for the most worthy contender. Let's hope it's a great race which in the eyes of the casual onlooker – whom I believe is unlikely to have been coerced or further persuaded by cheap double points – does justice to our sport.
Apparently Marussia are on the way! http://adamcooperf1.com/2014/11/19/marussia-on-the-way-to-abu-dhabi/
Good on them, if they race then who knows they luck into another top 10 finish with reliability a big worry for most teams.
As long as Bernie doesnt pocket the prize money or it doesnt further line the pockets of the top teams I dont care.
Bernie (read FOM or Abu Dhabi royalty I suspect) has apparently helped Caterham make it to Abu Dhabi: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/30116227 Didn't see that coming!
5Live have reported they've just spoken to Marussia and they won't be there, a late deal fell through. Sauber or Caterham will take their prize money. Sad to see Marussia won't make it, but their debt situation is a lot worse than Caterham's. If the "deal that fell through" was with Bernie though, that's really disappointing.
He's so full of crap. Chartered another plane? For one team and 40 staff? More like he was trying to get away using fewer planes to transport everything. Bernie: "We've gone a little bit over the top, but anyway, we've done it." Such the philanthropist, hey? Get the f***adoodle doo out of town! It's the bloody least you could do!!! Wouldn't surprise me if Caterham have already paid for the years transport up front anyway. Sod off, Bernie!
My understanding is this is how it works, travel and hotels etc are paid well in advance. (read it again recently with Marussia that all travel was paid in advance). Sounds to me like FOM thought Caterham wouldn't make it and cancelled their plane to save money/maximize profit, then they realised they would make it and re-instated the plane Caterham had already paid for anyway and spun this out as a cheap PR exercise.
