My new favourite channel i mean you know that sky/bbc etc etc are all guilty of bias to a greater or lesser extent but you never really appreciate how bad it is till you see something like RT or Al Jazeera which goes the other way. in the last 10 minutes they've had a good old laugh at David Haye, had a nice chat with poor Saif Gaddafi (****ing imperialist NATO), pondered why old eastern bloc countries are just better at tennis now and had a quick report on healthcare in the US which basically was along the lines of oh-look-isnt-life-****-there
Often watch Russia Today as I spent almost 10 years over there, and my wife is from there, it does give an alternative view, they often have these very obscure people with weird hair backing their views up though
You can't handle the truth. Aye it's good for a different view but they all have an agenda. It has always been like that though. In fact, it was worse back before we had the internet. Far worse.
Yes, I'm sure they do, but the truth means different things to different people so they can never win.
all news is biased no matter what they say. there was that programme on tele which explored how reportesrs and news stations are warned what may happen if they dont toe the line the beeb made up people celebrating 9/11 and are currently paying out compo for another lawsuit Al-jazeera are actually supposed to be the best to work for, thats why even David rost has gone over also a little known fact in all of the middle east 'conflicts' the al-jazeera offices are the first target for the brits/americans, so the propaganda machine isnt halted
Al-Jazeera is easily the best of the news channels. It's reporting real stories with professional objectivity with a sole motive to inform viewers of what's going on in the world. I t makes me laugh on the odd occasion when I do flick onto Sky News sensationally reporting a story about a woman putting a cat in a bin. Now that's what I call a scoop.
Two people can watch the same news story, and both will draw the conclusion which fits their world view. Seldom do people actually struggle with an issue to try and be objective. We're all guilty of this. Canvas any number of people on just acouple of topics e.g. War on Terror, Unions/Strikes, and you'll be able to guess with a high dergree of accuracy what their views are on most other current affairs matters. If people were truly object and free thinking they would have a much more varied point of view on matters, but instead we tend to blend in with a theme in our world view with has a very high degree of commonality. When people watch a news report that offers them nothing to agree with their world view, they scream "Bias". A friend told me that the BBC gets the highest number of complaints from pro-Israeli supporters ... and pro-Palestinian supporters - two sides engaged in a deadly embrace both thinking the BBC is bias against them. Go figure. If you really want to test the quality of the reporting wait till the news media focuses on a story that you are familiar with. E.g., observe the reaction of teachers, NHS workers, or those threatened by outsourcing, especially those you know and they will all tell you that the news never conveys the full facts. I hardly ever watch the news now.
the israeli's have a special task force that bombards the bbc if they dont like a story it was on tv recently
The BBC is one of the least bias news stations in the world. BBC and the English version of al jazerra are the best imo. A lot of the people at al jazeera are ex BBC anyway. If you think russia today is less bias than the BBC you're an idiot it's the old grass is greener bullshit.
Well Russia Today gives a different perspective to the western media, and it gives it how the Russians see things, of course RT is a state owned channel so what you really see is it what the russian government view on the world. But I still like the channel nonetheless
I know about the Israeli lobby and supporters bombarding various media channels. It works so well that others copy them, so now BBC gets bombarded by everyone. It just goes to show that people don't want objectivity - they just want the news to report matters that agree with their views. How many times have you watched Question Time and raged at the TV when some politician has said something you didn't agree with?
you got to be joking right? the bbc is very very biased, look at what that ozzie bloke uncovered bbc journo's go to al jazeerz because it is better careerwise and allows for more journalistic freedom
The Russian news tends to be a bit more brutal than ours though. I remember being in Poland when there was a horrendous accident at an air show in Ukraine. Think it was a SU-27 or something like that that crashed through the crowd. Watched it first on Sky News, then again on the Russian news, and the 2nd showing was waaaaaay more explicit in what it showed, to an extremely gorey extent. They don't give a **** about showing dead bodies etc all over the shop.
Agree with you in your choice of the best news stations. Also in Australia there is an organised group that reacts instantly to any adverse reporting concerning Israel be it in the printed or electronic media.
pretty shocked that this stayed on topic, kinda expected this to be about shagging news readers by now
you know what i mean though. RT is the the way forward, the mrs came in from work yesterday and before i knew anything about it i was calling her a western **** pig and those chechens had it coming.
